the October 15th cruisers are thinking of meeting during lunch on the 1st day at sea.... we were wondering if anyone has any experience getting a set of tables for like 40 people? We called and asked DCL and they pretty much said they couldn't guarantee seating for 40 people..... so whaddaya think? is it possible if we show up right when Parrot Cay opens and say "Yes, I'd like a table for 40" they'll not laugh at us?

Thanks,
Paul

On our last 3 sailings we had our "dis meet" deck 10 shore side....it worked out well.......

Personally, I wouldn't stress with trying to do that on the first day. Travel plans could always change, planes get delayed & then the time is shot. I would get together somewhere before the drill. That is just a big group to try to get in like that. Now, doing that another day on the ship would be a good idea. You can talk to the dining room manager the day before & arrange to have everyone waiting at the door when they open the room.

Thanks for the input.... we are yo-yoing between that and grabbing topsiders food/or room service and confiscating the Secret Sun porch on deck 7....

Thanks,
Paul

Technically, you cannot "reserve" a table for a large group without paying a special group fee. However, there is nothing stopping you from showing up at a dining room and asking for seating for 40. Expect it to take a few minutes for them to set it up, and expect multiple tables in the same area.

On the May repo cruise, we had two large Disboards meets. We had around 60 people for breakfast in Lumiere's which was called in ahead of time to request.

We also had a meet (I'd say at least 40 people) in Parrot Cay for lunch on a day at sea. I don't remember how they arranged that one. Once we arrived, they said they would block off the right side of the restaurant for us.

I'm pretty sure if you are one of the first ones at the restaurant and say how many are in your party, they will do everything they can to grab a section for you.

Have fun!
