Dis Mechanics???

I had a neighbor tell me that he thinks the catalytic converter is going bad in my car. (He is a I think I know everything kind of guy but only gets it right about half the time) I know nothing about cars except where to put the gas and the key. It drives fine except when it sputters every now and then. Especialy after I get up a big hill. (God I am such a girl) I've also noticed that my temp gauge is running a little on the warm side. Not hot, just warmer than it always has. It hovers somewhere around 210. No check engine light either. I will answer any questions anyone has but you will get a girly answer.
Sorry this has run on a little bit but I am kind of broke and don't want to get something replaced that isn't necessary. I hear they are expensive.

Do you get a sulfur smell in the car? I am not a mechanic and know very little about cars but when I had a similar issue it was a clogged fuel injector. If it IS the catalytic converter make sure you ask to KEEP the old part. They are lined with platinum and the price of an ounce of platinum is WAY up there-you could salvage it and pay for your repair, easily.

Not sulfer but when I turn the air conditioner on I can smell almost and exhaust smell if that make sense.

Could be the heater core? Or several other things.

Either way, I would get it looked at.

If could be an Oxygen Sensor problem. They are on both ends of a Catalytic Converter and control the mixture, Unless yoiu have used leaded or contaminated gas in your car, the converter itself does not go bad.

When the catalytic converter on my car was at it's worst, it vibrated and made quite a racket upon starting (the plates inside collapsed). Then it lost much power, especially trying to go up hills.
