DIS Digi-Scrappers Challenge #13 ***Winners posted in post #4***

One of my biggest fears became a reality on our first family trip to Disney World in 2001. My then five year old son got lost. Fortunately, we had prepared him ahead of time to look for a cast member with a name tag if he happened to get lost. We were united thanks to preparation and wonderful cast members.

This is what the journaling says:
"In 2001, Jake got separated from us when we were walking from Splash Mountain to Pecos Bill’s in Frontierland. The streets were being roped off for the afternoon parade and the crowd was being moved off the streets. Jake was a typical five year old and was distracted by the excitement. Somehow, he kept walking with the crowd after we turned to go into Pecos Bill’s. When he realized we were no longer with him, he continued on all the way to Cinderella Castle. He found a cast member there and told them he was lost. The cast member took him to the Baby Care Center next to the Crystal Palace. They gave him a water refill and let him watch cartoons. Meanwhile, we were frantic! When we realized he wasn’t with us, Dad and Eddy looked for him while I waited in front of Pecos Bill in case he returned. I found a cast member and told them we had lost our child. The cast member was so nice to us and assured us they would find him. He immediately got on a radio and reported our missing child. After what seemed like forever, the cast member finally told us that they had our son at the Baby Care Center. When my husband arrived, the first thing my son said to him was, “You lost me!”

The dotted line is the path he took all the way from Frontierland to the castle.

Tip for parents with young children:
- Make sure you prepare your kids
- Make sure you know what your kids are wearing to give the cast members a description
- If you are traveling in group like we were, make sure someone is keeping up with everyone. It's easier to get lost when there is a big group. When it's just your family it's easier to notice that someone is missing.
- Take extra precaution when the crowd starts being herded due to parades, especially when there is low lighting at the nightime parade.
- Tell a cast member immediately

Love the layout - the path part is really unique!! I know that you must have been out of your mind while he was lost:eek:

Susan: OMG! I can't even imagine how you must have been feeling. I lost my sister once for five minutes and thought I was going to go out of my mind. I'm so glad everything ended up great, plus you got a super LO out of it. Always a silver lining, right?!

I'm not really *scared* of the teacups, but a couple of ideas I had for things I was scared of at Disney just didn't work out because I didn't have the right pics.

Here is my entry! It actually took me a while to figure this out! But, I saw this picture of my DS and DH and remembered THE YETI!! Jeez, Hunter was SO scared after that ride. A year later, he still believes the Yeti was trying to snatch him out of the seat! TFL!

Ok, here's my first challenge entry in a while. My middle DD who is now 15 was incredibly terrified of "It's Tough to be a Bug" for the longest time.

What awesome layouts this week! This has been a great challenge. It's gotten people to think a bit, too.

I'm checking in from a B&B in the Berkshires in West Stockbridge, Mass. It's so nice that this B&B has high-speed internet so I can check up on all of you.

Great job, everyone!

Pam

I have always wanted to do one of these, but as yet have not been brave enough. You go ROCK STAR!

OMG! That would be super scary! I've lost my sister in World of Disney, both at WDW and DL. She has a tendency to just walk away to look at things and those stores are so huge its easy to get lost. Great layout!

WHAT?!? Not ride the tea cups?!? They are super fun. Especially when you spin REALLY, REALLY, REALLY fast!!! :thumbsup2 My sister doesn't really like them either, but it helps if we each go in our own tea cup so I can spin as fast as I want and she can just be a party pooper. :lmao: You should definitely try them next time. ;) Super layout! :) I like the glittery font you used for the word Teacup.

What a brave boy! At least he rode it. That's more than I can say! ;) Though I'm sure the Yeti would probably scare me as well. Terrific layout!

Great layout! I like the closeup photo of your DD. I like how you incorporated the bugs. That is so strange that she was afraid of it. There really isn't anything that scary in it. It isn't one of my favorites either because the 3D movies hurt my eyes after a while.

That would be very scary!!! I couldn't imagine running that far. Good for you!!! I'm sure it will be a blast. :) Great layout. I like how you incorporated the lime green. ;)

I can relate. I HATE chickens, even cartoon ones. I can't look at anything that has a chicken on it. *shudders* Though I like to eat chicken! ;) And I really don't like birds either. I remember the one Tigers game we went to and were sitting up in the upper deck and this bird kept flying by me, I was screaming bloody murder. Ick! I won't go near aviaries (sp?) either. Yucky.

Awesome layout! I like the colors and journaling. Great job!

***REMINDER***: Layouts are due by TOMORROW at 11:00 PM ET. If you haven't submitted one yet, there is still time.

BUMP!

One last reminder that layouts need to be submitted by 11:00 PM ET TONIGHT!!!

I finally finished my LO. I am not totally thrilled with this, but I LOVE the journaling. I did it from the perspective of my now 3 year old looking back at when she was 6 months old. I have never seen anyone freak out on a carousel, but she did. She also used to hate swings at that age, too! Now, she loves carousels...when we go to DL in November, I know that she will conquer her fear of that carousel!! LOL
