DIS convinced me to try DHS....now some questions!

i disagree there are wonderful counter service places at HS. I love the backlot express, abc commissary, toy story pizza planet, studio catering Co, the list goes on. when we go to HS we struggle with what counter service to eat at. actually we struggle with counter service and sit down dining at all parks because they are all soooo wonderful!!!

My kids and I (disclaimer: I have really low food expectations;)) like Pizza Planet (QS). You can't go wrong with Pizza when you have kids and they have a sandwich there that's not too bad. But we've also been to Sci-Fi as well and the kids really liked the atmosphere. So if you're going with an ADR I think Sci-Fi is a good choice. :thumbsup2

We always seem to be nearest ABC commissary when we're hungry and I don't know why it's so badly bashed. The atmosphere is supposed to be like the employee cafeteria at a working studio, so it's nothing special, but it's air-conditioned, comfy seating and our food has always been great. Nothing fancy, but the salads, burgers, chicken sandwiches were always fresh, hot or cold as ordered, and delicious. In Oct we got a seasonal chocolate witch cupcake that was wonderful for dessert. It's not "destination dining", but miles better than anything I can get in venues like six flags or the ballpark and priced in line with all the other park counter service places.

We are going in late August and the park schedule closes at 8:30 .... that seems SO early. Is Fantasmic! at 9 on an 8:30 day????
Yes, and it is likely an EMH evening. We are dealing with the same thing in May. :)

:wizard:

I also vote for an ADR for Sci-Fi.

I agree that the CS is lacking at DHS in terms of "good" options.

We did kind of like Studio Catering Company. Meaning we didn't hate it.

But the ADR would be the preferred choice in our family if cost were not an issue.

I also enjoy 50s Prime Time for a table service meal in HS. The PB&J shake is DELISH. Sci-Fi is kind of meh for me, but I'm also not huge into watching the same short clips and commercials over and over again on the dine-in theater screen. Plus, sitting next to your dining partner is kind of strange.

We like the ABC Commissary and the CS over by Star Tours (can't think of the name right now).
