Okay, a few important notes about our convention.
Response to the event has been VERY strong. We
currently have over 100 people scheduled to attend
(and we have not yet opened this up to event only
registration). I met with our Convention coordinator
yesterday to do a site inspection of the Yacht Club to
see the various areas where we'll hold certain
functions. The DIS Character breakfast is going to be
held in the Grand Ballroom (stunning!!), and our
continental breakfast will be held (tentatively) at the
Yachtsman Steak House. The welcome reception will
be held (tentatively) at Atlantic Dance.
Now, I'm not trying to scare anyone into booking
(really, I'm not), but after talking with Carole
yesterday, I decided that for this event, I'm going to
cap attendance at 300 people. My feeling is that we'll
meet that number fairly quickly. I plan to open up
registration for 'event only' right after we go to
contract on the hotel rooms (which will be around Feb
12), SO...if you are planning to go and utilize a hotel
room, I must BEG you to put your request in now.
Once we've gone to contract I can not guarantee
that I'll be able to get more rooms. Right now, we
have rooms held at all resorts, but when we sign the
contract, we only have the rooms that have deposits
paid.
Now I know some of you had special
requests/situations and I've created a new form for
those. If the standard form that we have
---- does
not meet your party description, then go to
---- Enter in
your info, and someone will get back to you with a
price, at which time you can let us know if you want
to hold it.
Again, I must emphasize that I think we will max out
on our cap, so it's critical that you get your request
in NOW, and get your deposit paid. For those that
have put in requests, but not have not paid your
deposit, please don't wait until the last minute. Once
we go to contract, I have no guarantees that I'll get
additional rooms. Rooms are held on a first paid/first
served basis, so please..don't procratinate (that's
usually my job!).
