Pea n Me - Thanks for posting those pictures. It made me cry! I was the speaker for our Relay for Life this year (probably already mentioned that - but I was really HONORED to be asked!) and it was ver emotional when I saw all the luminaries there with my name on them and heard my name several times during the lighting ceremony. It is a beautiful ceremony!

I love the new tags - haven't been here all weekend to see if I got one - but here's some shameless plugging for one if I haven't :rotfl: (ooh - I see I got one!! Thanks!!)

My #1 blessing is my faith and the many blessing that have come from that - I don't know how people get through cancer without faith in a higher power - in my case, the Grace of God and his son Jesus Christ!

#2 my husband and DD. I felt the same way when I was going through treatment - I'm not afraid to die - but I don't WANT to right now because I don't want to leave them. I want to be a Grandma some day!

#3 My extended family - especially my parents.

#4 my wonderful "best" friends - 3 of them that have been there in so many ways and my great work friends who were so supportive - and continue to be.

And as far as the pets go - have 3 cats. They're all "mutts" - Big Kitty - looks like a Maine Coon cat - followed DH & DD home from a walk and ended up staying when the owner of the mama really didn't want her back!, Little Kitty - gray tabby that was dumped in our yard and Jack - black & white tuxedo kitty who was dumped in a taped box in front of the bank where DD's roommate worked!! Very creative names - huh? :rotfl: Big Kitty is sometimes know as Satan by my DD because she's my grumpy kitty who loves me best!! Little Kitty is the sweetest little cat around and even though she's 6 years old still looks like a kitten - and Jack is my "cancer Kitty". Becca and her roommate got him their first week of college - and were ready to give him away by the second because they didn't want to deal with the litter box ( I TOLD THEM SO!) so we took him "until we could find him a home" ! But he was the cutest little kitten and would snuggle with me when I'd come home after treatment and so I've now broken my rule of "no more pets then people in the house" rule since Becca is off at school!

Linda, thanks so much for the pix of the relay. I don't post here as much as I read this thread, but it means so much to have the thoughts and prayers of all of you.

I think it's a great idea to post our blessings; so often I tend to focus on the negative instead of seeing the good stuff right in front of me.

My main blessing is my DH. He drives me insane very often, but he's the best thing that ever happened to me.

Then there are my two DS's, both teenagers. Even though there are many, many times I'd love to stangle them, I'm so thankful that I beat cancer so that I AM here, ripping my hair out with them, LOL! I keep telling then that I beat cancer just so I can be around to watch THEIR children drive them crazy like they're doing to me!

And I can't forget my fur-babies, Charlie :paw: and Sheba :paw: . They're always there when I need a hug or a lick or a snuggle-buddy.

Hmmm....wonder if the tag fairy got to me? GAGWTA!! Have a great week!

I try everyday to be thankful for all that God has given me -

#1 above all else - my four children. Wonderful kids, growing up to be people I am very, very proud of.

#2 my faith - as Debbie said, that's what gets you thru

#3 friends - they brought dinner to our house for 6 mos. while I was in treatment

#4 the doctors, nurses, staff, scientists, researchers, fund raisers all working day and night to find a CURE!

GAGWTA!

Yes, faith in a higher power is a blessing....I have to say that as a "lapsed" Catholic these months have been as much a spiritual as a physical journey for me, that continues. I truly appreciate the prayers you have shared ....your faith has strengthened mine :grouphug:

I loved the pics! Let's all post at least one so we can see each other!

Here's me and my girls at the Renaissance Festival last year. We love to play dress up, although I haven't managed to get hubby to partake in a costume, he enjoys it too!

your favorite long-poster of course hahahaha

ladies, doncha know "sexy" is Pop-Daddy-ese for "long post" :rotfl2:

mornin' everyone....i have been on hold with disney dining for 40 minutes...wanted to book my Candellight Proc for 12/24 before work. I am SOOO clever...DISing and eating breakfast and trying to do make up with one hand...I need to leave in 15 minutes...they need to hurry up!!

GAGWTA! :sunny:

Ann- No, I'm sure Pop Daddy thinks you are sexy, sexy!
I hope you got your Candellight Proc ressies! I was really thinking about going during Christmas this year, but Oct. won out since the kids have a super long weekend then. Maybe next Christmas...

Well, it looks like my steroids aren't working at this dosage, except to make me wired and keep me from sleeping. :earseek: I hope if my doc ups the dosage he'll give me a sleeping pill with it, I'm starting to feel like a zombie! :scared:
:grouphug:

GAGTWA!

Laura, I noticed last night you were posting at 1am - I'm usually around here by myself then! I was afraid of that when you said you were going on steroids - they have that same effect on me too when I take them. If you can't get something right away can you try two tylenol PM? And limit your caffeinated beverages throughout the day?... So after all that they haven't helped your IBS? :confused3 Hoping you'll see some improvement soon. :grouphug:

Ann, congratulations on starting your medication. It must have been hard to swallow that first pill. :worried: It should be easier now. These things are often a mixed bag but as others have said, hopefully the benefits will outweigh any side effects for you.

Nice to hear you're a multi-tasker - I am too, big time! :hyper: The Candlelight Processional sounds really nice, hope you can get your tickets! Your post reminded me of the mornings I was trying to get a PS at CRT for the kids' 5th birthday. No luck the first morning. Second morning I tried at home again no luck. Meanwhile DH (who never does any WDW/DCL ressies) had two phones going at work and was told no by the first operator, that they were all gone (at 7:03am  ) - and afterward the second operator comes on and says yup, they have room, how many in your party? :confused3 :rotfl:

BTW ladies, I love your pictures!! What beautiful families! :goodvibes

rough nightlast night.

I woke up twice and had a hard time going b ack to sleep. I couldn't get comfortable -- my scalp itches too much.

Sorry you had a bad night, Lessa. :grouphug: I am having difficulty sleeping too, I think I have not become accustomed to the new thyroid med level yet. It was supposed to help with fatigue but so far, same fatigue PLUS not sleeping well.

I've got to give it more time. Be patient, be positive, Laurie.

Pictures, arghhh, I don't have a clue, anyone help me, I have digital pics on my computer but I am technologically challenged big time.

Not sure I want to scare you guys anyways with a pic of me.

How about a nice pic of the real Snappy?

Or DD9 at WDW?

Hope you got your Candlelight ressies, Ann. Way to go on the med!!

Snappy - I love where your name came from!! BTW, I loved all your pet stories, thanks for sharing.

I think I can help you learn how to post pictures. Go to photobucket.com and open an account (it's free for 90 days, then it's $25 per year). Do what it asks. Once you do that you can upload your photos to their website.

Now once you have a photo on there you can go to the bottom of the photo and there is a url with
brackets around it. Copy and paste that url with brackets onto your Dis reply and the image should come out.

Alternatively you can right click on the photo and get the url that way. Then on your reply you can hit the sunshine icon and copy and paste it there which will wrap the img brackets around it.

Sometimes the photos are huge when you upload them. Go under the pic to edit and you can resize it. Caution, once you downsize it you cannot make it big again, you'd have to redo the whole thing. You can make it really small for your siggie.

Practice. A few people here helped me learn how (thanks Dan and Rippington'd Fan)! If I can do it anyone can do it! :rotfl:

Here's our family last fall.

sdc04.jpg

Great news about Lisa. I'm sure she's glad to be going home. I sent an email to her to let her know she's in my thoughts and prayers. What a darling family she has!

Yay for taking that first pill, Ann. It's hard to start. I waited almost a year to begin, but it's better to get it over with.

Sorry so many of us are having trouble sleeping. I'm a bear when I don't get enough sleep. Had a headache last night, so I didn't sleep well either.

My blessings? There are so many.
My faith has pulled me through so many rough spots. Don't know what I'd do without it.
My dear husband has been with me through thick and thin. He's patient and understanding. He has dealt with the changes in me, from my body to my libido, and loves me in spite of it all. I love him more than I can say.
My children are the light of my life. They are growing up into charming young adults and I'm very proud of them.
My pets love me unconditionally. Even when I'm not very loveable, they are there.
My friends and family are wonderful. This includes all my internet friends as well. They have been such great support when the chips were down.
The fact that I'm here and healthy is such a tremendous blessing. I thank God every day that I'm here with the ones I love.

My DD was mortified that I showed you a picture of her when she still had bangs. :rotfl: So please ignore the bangs in her picture and imagine long bangs that won't stay back. *giggle* And she also said that it looks like my DS is 8 feet tall. He is taller than the rest of us, but he was standing on a stone wall. So he's not the odd one of the bunch. ;)

Ann, did you get your dinner package booked? Which restaurant are you going to? My mum and I did the CP on 12/24 2003 and it was so special. We ate at Akershus which of course fell victim to the Attack of the Princesses and now isn't used for the candelight processional.
Hope the new pills don't cause any side effects. My mum starts hers next Tuesday, exactly a week after her last chemo which is tomorrow (fingers crossed)!

Laura, I hope your steroid dosage can be fixed. It's no fun not being able to sleep.

Snappy, love the story about your dog. That is so cute! Is that Snappy in your avatar pic with the bone biscuit on her nose? I love that pic. It always makes me smile when I see it.

Lessa, so sorry you're having scalp issues (quite a way to put it, I know). I know when my mum was losing her hair she wore a very lightweight sleep cap for comfort. She didn't need to use it for long but it did help a little with the discomfort.

For those I haven't mentioned, hi!

I'm heading back to work tomorrow - teaching a class of 9 year olds (24 of them, smaller than the past two years when I had 27). It'll be a big change for me as I've been teaching 6 years for the past two years. I have to move into a new room too so that's what I'll be doing tomorrow. Haven't got time to waste on that stuff but it can't be avoided.

Mum gets her final chemo tomorrow, all being well. None of us can believe how quickly the time has passed!
Here is a photo of the two of us at my cousin's wedding in June 2003. We look just the same now, except for her hair right now of course!
