DirecTV dropped Viacom channels

Ya...I'm bummed. I like to watch Real World. LOL! Been watching that show since the very first season. So I'm a little annoyed!

Think they'll become available again?

Via on wants more money per subscriber from DirecTV. it's been seven years since there's been any increase in the payment per subscriber from DTV to Viacom, and until/unless they come to some type of agreement - no.

They'll settle. Give it a couple days of angry subscribers flooding both companies with calls and they'll settle.

Hilariously, there's already an entire Dish ad campaign and special phone number built around luring disgruntled DTV customers.

Thankfully it will be a while before the next season of Jersey Shore, I am hoping they will have it resolved by them. I had a lot going on yesterday and didn't get a chance to call, I am definitely going to do that today.

only $5 credit. I called and got $30 plus a bunch of channels for free b/c I already pay for encore which they are giving everyone for free now.

when did they start giving everyone encore for free?
I'm paying for it too in my package.
thanks

What do you all say when you call in? I just want to be prepared! I am an MTV reality show junkie, so i'm hating this lol My kids are missing their Spongebob! We are newly subscribed so we already get all the movie channels free for 3 months, so the free Encore does us no good.

My co-worker called, he got an upgrade to the full football package (saved about $150) from the basic package he had before, got 6 months of free premium channels, also got a $10 per month discount for 1 year, so he got about $500 worth of discounts......he just let them know that they were going to cancel because the channels they lost are channels they watch all the time.

I just asked them what they were able to offer me for the channels missing while they battle it out with Viacom.

They offered to extend it for me for another 3 months after the promotion ran out. Plus I was able to get $5 off for the next 3 months. So a total of $15.

They give it free as a 3 month promotion when you sign up. They are offering it free right now to anyone who calls in because of the missing channels.

Seems like a hit and miss on what compensation one gets. Canceling, or at lease threatening, to seems to work best. Don't believe at all that 5.00 would make me the least bit happy, and there is a lot of competition in most areas.

We were able to get a $5 credit, that's fine with me :thumbsup2 We're new so we get every movie channel free anyway for the next few months.

Called DTV and they offered $5 credit for 3 months.

Asked if that was all they could offer and they offered Showtime and Starz too free for 6 months.

Asked if that was all and got another $5 off for 3 months.

Stopped there but probably could have asked for more.

Luckily we don't really watch any of those channels, but I will have the hubby call for a discount!~ ;)

Don't have to call for the free Encore. They just appeared available to us.

With everyone calling about the $5/month, I'm curious if there will just be a $5 credit on everyone's bill anyways, so I haven't called. I hate calling places like that anyways.

Bumping this because I made DH call tonight (I hate making these kinds of phone calls!) and we got a $10 credit for 3 months and free Showtime for 6 months.

My wife called and she got 2 $10 credit towards our bill and free showtime and encore for 2 months.

Oh, I'm glad I saw this thread. I never thought to call and complain about this.

Viacom would make a KILLING if they just dropped Cable distribution all together, partnered with Roku or Google or some hardware maker and just streamed their content over the internet for $1 per channel.
