Direct vs resale

We bought 250 points at Poly and saved over $25,000 by buying resale. That’s a lot of money and I don’t think we would ever recoup that in blue card discounts. If you’re planning on buying 200+ points, I would do the math as Poly direct is way overpriced IMO.

BTW: It’s a great resort - we love it ! Our travel
Party is very similar to yours. Myself, DH, DD7, DD5, my parents and my sister. We bought one contract and my parents bought another. The connecting studios are fantastic !!

If you love and are set on Poly, buy enough points so that you can use them to your 11 month advantage.

Buy the 125 direct and add on a resale purchase same resort, same UY.
Better to buy resale first - then you can match the use year when you buy direct.

I have said before the only benefit of direct is the AP and if you have been able to make multiple trips in a year, then it is worth the 100 points direct for the AP benefits. I am going to throw another thought out there...buy 100 points direct at SSR or AKV and purchase the rest (poly points) on resale. Poly is usually avaible in the 7 month window due to the studio only booking category. You could use the SSR points easily at poly. Just another thought. In terms of matching resale to direct points...that really does not matter in my honest opinon. I like having multiple use years it has its benefits

Im 99% sure were going to purchase 130-150 pts Polynesian resale followed by 100-125 direct at SSR in a few years. As of now my dad is retired military so we get discounted park tickets (as long as they are still offered) for the foreseeable future.

I looked at the availability thread that provided an analysis from 2015 (ish) and on and realized rooms are available most of the times we want to go, where we want to stay, and for the length of our trip at the 7 month mark. Since SSR is significantly cheaper, when we do buy direct that is the resort were going to purchase :)

If you have the military discount tickets that is a great deal and better than the AP discount. My great aunt was retired military (she was an army nurse WWII) and when she came with us the ticket discounts were significant. The only thing to keep in mind is they may keep raising the minimum requirement for the blue card. At one time the minimum purchase for new members was in the 200's. It seems every year the minimum keeps going up. Hence the only reason I would consider SSR direct now.

Yes, i was just reading that the minimum is going to 125 on 10/19/2020 :( The savings with the military tickets are great and I hope they add on even more park day options (currently maxes out at 6 days)
