Direct purchase for 1BR

Just wanted to add, we loved CC and would have bought there, but proximity to MK as the only park was a dealbreaker for us. We really wanted to stay there in early December to enjoy the decorations and lower points, and there was ZERO availability when we looked, even for the one-bedroom that is supposedly the last to be booked. If you want to stay there, or anywhere, buy where you want to stay. It really is becoming an issue, IMO. You can grab a few days here and there at other places at 7 months, but a whole week? Only AK/SS/OKW seem to have a shot of a complete week stay during peak school vacations or low points season.

We were so close to CC back in 2019 when we closed but the 4 person limit in studio and 1 BR was a deal breaker for us. I think I like the resort better and my biggest issue with RIV is the fact that it is surrounded and connected to moderate and value resorts where wilderness lodge is essentially its own gem even though fort wilderness is pretty close.

CC IS gorgeous, and it is very different from RIV vibe-wise, obviously. I don't mind RIV being close to CB. One, CB used to be our "home base" before we bought DVC, LOL, so we liked it, and we also really like their pool bar at CB and Sebastian's for casual/fine-ish dining. I hope Sebastian's comes back!

CC rooms seem very tight to me, too, for some reason. IDK what the issue is, but it just seems small in the studios and even one-bedrooms. We've done RIV studios once and immediately said beautiful, but we need the one-bedroom. Now we have done one-bedrooms twice at RIV and LOVED it. The kids truly think we "own" Riviera and it's our second home, LOL. (I wish!)

We may be ruined -- booked a two-bedroom at RIV with my sister's family in September. I think I sense a disturbance in the force -- and the need for another 100 points to accommodate two-bedrooms when the kiddos hit 6' apiece and hit the night owl phase of teenager years. Right now we're great in the one-bedrooms, but more points is always better! LOL.

I'm hoping some day we can score a two-bedroom at CC during the 12/1-12/15 season. CC is THE quintessential holiday park, IMO, and we have three of four birthdays right around there for the family, so it would be great to celebrate birthdays and the holidays over there. Seems like a very slim chance though, since people who own there can't get rooms of any type during that timeframe. I read on another thread that first low-point week over at CC was booked within 22 seconds on opening day! Sheesh.

I agree and think it's the galley layout of the kitchen. The other 1Bedrooms we've stayed in have the open concept and feel more spacious.

I thought they converted WL hotel rooms into the CC rooms that weren’t cabins. Did they build another wing like they did for BR section?

If buying resale, I would buy AKV, SSR, OKW, or BLT. Most 1 bedrooms are available in 7 month window. Grand Floridian one bedrooms are usually available in 7 month. Buy where it is the most economical. If buying direct I would choose SSR because it is the cheapest, or AKV as the next best value price wise and also for the value and standard points.

Yes CCV is converted hotel rooms, hence why the rooms are smaller. The only thing consistent in DVC room sizes is their inconsistency, besides BWV, BCV, BRV and SSR rooms are the same layout and nearly the same size, they are within a square foot or 3 in size. PVB was also converted hotel rooms but back in the early 70’s hotel rooms were built large.

Except for the BCV rooms that look like someone got drunk while drawing lol

They are definitely smaller, but they don't feel small to me. I like the galley. Also, the dining table is a really good size with plenty of seating. It feels very comfortable to me.

Yes! That is what happens! We get the 2-bedroom now for the four of us. The teens get their own room and our living room is not also a bedroom.

I can totally see that happening, wanting the living room back for night owls/early birds and the old folks can relax in the king bedroom to rope drop and guzzle coffee, while the teenagers stink up the other half of queen beds and sleep in later/come in later after the parks close, LOL. We can all meet in the middle for brunch and pool time.

What will be interesting is if the glut in points will get more people to try the 1BR and if they try it will they continue to book those rooms moving forward then?
