Would someone be able to describe for me what DINOSAUR is like? If I can handle rides like Mine Train, Soarin, Test Track.... will I be okay on DINOSAUR? I've never been on it because people have said it's rough and scary. Am I missing out?

I found it rough, it does bounce you around some bit. I get scared pretty easily and I did find it scary. But not enough to not ride it again!

It's a darker ride and it bounces you around quite a bit. I usually get off the ride and say to my DH: I should've worn more support for the girls! We both have a good laugh!

Mods: if this offends anyone, please feel free to delete it. I mean no harm or disrespect.

What exactly scared you about the ride?

My daughter can sometimes be sensitive to loud noise, like she blocks her ears at the fireworks part in Soarin. Is it louder than that?

I find the Safari ride bounces you around quite a bit, is DINOSAUR like that or worse?

Well, it feels like you are off-roading through a jungle and all around you is darkness, lightning, and dinosaurs. Fear is quite subjective with a ride like this, large realistic looking dinosaurs with big teeth chasing you probably causes different reactions in different people. For me, there is a very primal deep fear during the thing. Not jump-scare startling, but a feeling of dread deep inside.

But that said, I still ride it.

There's a couple parts that the dinosaurs come out at you (it's been a couple years since I've been on it). It's dark and loud. I am taking my 3 kids next week. My youngest is 4 yrs old. I am not sure if he will be scared or not.

Dinosaur is rougher than the Safari. It is also dark and loud. There are a lot of jump scares and flashing lights. If you have bad back or neck problems; do not ride. It is hard to plug your ears on Dinosaur because you will probably need to hold on to the grab bar. Most of the ride happens in the dark so you cannot see what is coming.

I love to ride it and do so at least once or twice every trip. Have fun! Cheers!!!!!!

Far louder, and for much longer.

Far bouncier, and for much longer.

In the dark, sometimes pitch black.

When people ask me if there is anything at Disney that I don't like, "Dinosaur" is always my answer. In my book a well designed ride has highs and lows... times when you are shocked/surprised/scared and times when you catch your breath. Dinosaur is relentlessly screechy and bumpy and in your face, you never get the catch-your-breath moments. I think in 40+ trips I've probably ridden it 4 or 5 times, and only when someone I'm with wants to do it.

I'm 30 years old and Dinosaur scares the poop out of me. I'll go on it because DH will drag me on but every ride photo I'm screaming my head off. It's incredibly dark, loud, and really jostles you around. Definitely not rushing to get my kids on it when they are tall enough.

It's not like a typical thrill ride - no big drops or loops or being upside down. No high speeds. You're in a car on a track that moves through a bunch of scenes of animatronic dinosaurs.

The thrills come from big toothy dinos jumping out at you.

Aside from the lunging dinos, the challenges for most people are the noise and the roughness of the ride. As others have said, it is LOUD. Easily the loudest ride at WDW, in my opinion. And the track is very rough. The ride vehicle bounces around and slams down on the track really hard, really often. It gave me a backache and I don't have any back problems. Stay far, far away if you do have back or neck trouble.

The story and theming are good at the beginning and end, but I was so distracted by the noise and getting bounced around in the car that I lost the thread of the story. It's so dark in there that you don't really get a good look at any theming anyway. I don't find it scary so much as uncomfortable and kind of pointless.

The motion of the ride is very similar to Spider-Man or Transformers at Universal if you have ever tried those, or Indiana Jones at Disneyland (it is in fact the exact same ride as the latter just with a different theme). It is loud, dark and reasonably rough, but it does not drop like a roller coaster or spin in any way. It pretty much shakes you around a lot.

Dinosaur is like riding a bull, except you’re held down with a lap bar. I like the rides story, but it is rough. I brace myself against the bar and push my feet against the seat and it reduces the bouncing some. If your DD is scared easily, stay away. In addition to the roughness, there’s meteor showers, Dinos lunging at you, darkness and bright flashes, etc. Not for the faint of heart.

My kids LOVE Dinosaur and we always hit it when crowds are low so we can ride it several times in a row with minimal wait. It is loud, bumpy, and dark, but we think it is fun. For me, the scary part (the first few times) was not knowing what was going to happen, combined with the dark. I think you will be fine.

Dinosaur is, by far, the ROUGHEST indoor ride at WDW.
(Space Mtn. is right in there, but not for the ENTIRE ride!)

It's certainly "tied" for the absolute LOUDEST
bellowing sound effects.

And there is nothing that comes close in the category of
"Pitch-blackness...
then FULL-BRIGHT LIGHTS illuminating
GIANT DINOS with razor-sharp spiked teeth
LUNGING out straight AT YOU
with DEAFENING-ROAR sound effects."

Then,
more VIOLENT shaking,
jack-rabbit ACCELERATION,
sudden hard BRAKING...
and REPEAT.

All that said, I really ENJOY riding this attraction, and do so every trip.

Dinosaur is based on the same ride technology that is used on the Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Forbidden Eye ride at Disneyland.

I don't know what this ride is like. It is very loud, for sure....and that scares me....and I close my eyes....and then I get off the ride. Scared. But I really don't know why because I've never seen it. DS loves this ride, or I'd never ride it. I can endorse that it is bumpy, loud and dark...because my eyes are closed.

Funny all the responses. Dinosaur is one of my favorite rides at WDW. I DO have neck and back problems, but I've never had an issue once I've gotten off. I don't get scared at things jumping out at me or dark so I find this one great. It is jumpy and bumpy and loud, no doubt. I can't ride big roller coasters b/c I get too scared of the upside downs/falls, etc. My 4 year old is tall enough to ride Dinosaur this year and I'm not sure if he's going to do it or not. He's a bit of a scaredy cat when it comes to dark and scary things so we'll see what happens this trip.
