My DBF does not like coasters... what excatly is Dinosaur? Are there any big drops that may make him motion sick?

It's a pretty intense ride...if he is prone to motion sickness I would avoid it.....it's not a coaster but there are lots of twists and turns that are pretty sharp and there is some up and down movement....it's tough of me to descirbe...maybe someone else will be able to articulate better....HTH :)

It's not a coaster. It's a moving ride simulator. Think Star Tours and Winnie the Pooh combined with a Dinosaur plot.

You get in a ride vehicle and it takes you thru the ride and you get bumped and jostled like you would in Star Tours. Dinosaurs are around you and popping out at you.

No big drops, but lots of side to side motion. You're in a time rover (safari looking car). It is not a fast ride. However, it is VERY jerky. You're sent back in time to find a certain dinosaur. Only problem is you have to get there and back before the asteroids. There are no rollercoaster type hills on this ride.

It is nothing like a roller coaster. You are in a jeep-like vehicle and it takes you through the ride. It is very bumpy, dark, and loud...but no drops. I took my DD on the ride several years ago and she is a big chicken...does not like big drops, no loops, etc....and she found this ride to be no problem. I would not recommend the ride to anyone who has back or neck problems or for children who are afraid of the dark and/or loud noises.

Hope this helps! :flower:

It is very jerky but our 4yr old dd rode it and it scared her a little bit. It is pretty dark but we love it!!

TSWJan78, I guess I must be in the same boat as your DBF. I cannot ride rollercoasters or any ride that has a big drop in it because I get sick on the drops. I can go round and round all day long, and I can jerk around. I don't get motion sick on simulator rides either. I just get sick on the drops.
I CAN ride Dinosaur. I totally love it, too. It is one of my favorite, top 3 rides in all of the parks!!! :goodvibes
By the way, I can also ride Thunder Mountain because the drops aren't straight drops. All of the "bigger" drops are twisting so it isn't the straight drop sensation.

the first time i rode Dinosaur i kept waiting for the drop ... but there are no drops!

its bumpy and jerky .... and though i get motion sick ... i have no problems with Dinosaur

its not enclosed like a simulator and rather than "feeling" like you're moving ... you actually ARE moving.

I'm a big chicken that doesn't like the big coasters. I have ridden, but probably won't ride again: ToT, Space Mt., California Screamin' (at DL). I have ridden and probably will ride again if I get up the nerve: RnR, Splash Mt., Soarin'. Rides that don't bother me: Kali, Big Thunder Mt., teacups (as long as I'm with my preschooler, not my teenager).

Dinosaur doesn't even come close to a ride that upsets your stomach. It's jerky, but not so bad like a coaster. The story line is so good, you'll be glad you rode it. Just make sure you sit on the far right, front row (hee-hee).

I strongly disagree about avoiding this ride if you get motion sickness.

I loved this. I skipped it previously because I was worried about getting sicks, but this time I did it, TWICE.

As I stated on another post, I get motion sickness from airplanes, reading directions in the car, tea cups, watching anything that moves or spins too fast...but this gave me no problems.

I am not a fan of roller coasters. This was great as it is not a coaster. You stay on one track. Your car moves as if you are going over bumpy roads, but there are no dips, drops or hills. There are small dropping movements, but nothing that would throw you. The scariest part of the ride has nothing to do with the way the vehicle moves. :)

Thanks for all of your replies.... He is a is baby but like most kids gets worried standing in line and then cannot wait to go back... He loved Splash Mount and test track but was scared before we went... I think I can get him to do this one.. and maybe even Thumder Mount...

Anything else you can think of that my psych him out but be fine on?!?

this ride is not that bad at all. it jolts the car around but are no drops or loops or anything. if they did test track they should be a ok on this. the scarriest part is the dinosaurs!
