Dinning outside the world?

We really enjoyed Cafe' Tu Tu Tango 8625 International Drive. The restaurant/bar serves Mediterranean style tapas in an working artists loft/setting. Original artwork is displayed throughout the restaurant and artists were sketching while we were waiting for our table. They offer the standard childrens menu and our children ordered chicken fingers, an individual pan style pizza and a grilled cheese sandwich. The children played with the red view master ( drink specials were in the view master but, we didn't tell them) that was on our table and they were given crayons and paper! The food was ordered for the children first so that we could enjoy an adult drink or two!:thumbsup2

We asked our waitress to give her recommendations/suggestions for DH and I. We both enjoyed the food as it was excellent. We had a Roasted pear salad on pecan crisps (served on arugula); stuffed mushrooms; chicken quesidallas and shrimp springrolls. The portions were small but, it made up for it in the taste so order more than you would usually eat. All in all this is an enjoyable place with great service and delicious food. I would recommend this place to anyone that wants something different off disney property.:artist:

Ran Getsu of Tokyo: http://www.rangetsu.com/. Great sushi and wonderful shabu-shabu. The only minus is that it's a popular hangout for the *ahem* escorts and their clients. Every time we sit at the sushi bar we see a middle aged man with a hot young chick who has never tried sushi before . They are always well behaved and my DH and I make a game of picking them out when we sit down.

We really have enjoyed Kobe's Japanese Steakhouse. It's TeppanYaki and Sushi similar but better than whats in Epcot. It's located on Palm Parkway about 1/2 mile north of DisneyWorld.

OMG that place looks awesome. I haven't had table prepared sukiyaki or shabu shabu in years (I miss that and Korean restaurants with table prepared bulgogi. The downside of living in a smaller town . . .)

Chevy's Fresh Mex which is located in the Crossroads near DTD :thumbsup2 . We love it and usually walk here from DTD every year. There is a nice walkway along all the big hotels. The food is really good and it's never hard to get a table. We learned about it right here on the Dis :goodvibes !

Before we started staying on site we used to stay on 192...we love Bob Evans for breakfast, Pizza Uno, on I-4 we love Friendlys and Race Rock (I think they have closed down now)

There is so many I want to try.

Our old "standby" is Bahama Breeze. I like Bonefish Grill here in Virginia but not have tried the Orlando location. But it is a great place.

We like Bahama Breeze too. We also usually go to Giordano's for the stuffed pizza.

I was in Orlando for a conference and took some VIPs to eat at BoneFish. It was so good!! A little pricey, but worth it. I don't know if it's still there, but there was a restaurant across the street called Fish Bones. I'm sure that causes lots of confusion!

Great thread! We've been looking at some of what the area has to offer outside of the World because a family friend has offered us the use of her townhouse at a tough price to pass up. I like staying on site, but I don't know that its worth the $1300 price difference to us, especially since we're comparing a standard hotel room to a 3 bedroom townhouse!

I'm looking over my plans and looking at the days where an offsite dinner could take the place of something that we're not all that attached to at WDW, and looking for the best steak, seafood, and Japanese steakhouse Orlando has to offer. If we decide to go with the villa, I'm definately going to cancel Teppanyaki in favor of Kobe - their website and menu look awesome!

So since I have the Japanese steakhouse taken care of, any suggestions for an American steakhouse or a seafood restaurant? Any good Mexican in the area?

Race Rock closed? Awwww, we loved that place when it was here but only got to go once since they moved down to Orlando, and I was looking forward to going back next time we were down there.

But Friendlys? There are still Friendlys in Orlando? :yay: :yay: I thought the whole chain closed; there aren't any around here anymore, and haven't been for years! Going to have to find one of those for lunch on the way to or from the airport.

We live here, so I have a few suggestions. Roy's on West Sand Lake is, hands-down, the number one restaurant we've eaten at here, Victoria & Albert's only excepted. The reason for this is their tuna; it is unbelievable, out of this world, cannot say enough about it.

Here is a link to our review, with pictures:

We love, love, LOVE Roy's.

We live on 192, and I speak from experience when I say, "Avoid anything on 192 like the plague." Really. It's disgusting out there. We do mystery shopping and have had to refuse all assignments for places on 192. Bugs, mold, you name it. Yech.

If you're looking for something good but cheap, Tijuana Flats is pretty good. There is a location on Kirkman and one in Winter Garden on 50 at the intersection with 535.

If you don't mind a dive, you will find the most incredible oysters at Lee & Rick's Oyster Bar on Winter Garden Vineland Road. The oysters there are plump and luscious; they cook them to your liking; the shuckers stand in front of you and shuck them all for you if you order a bucket.

Cheers!

Nice to see Cafe Tu Tu Tango recommended...that is EXACTLY where I was thinking DH and I would go (we are actually going to get a sitter one night!)
