We requested the early dinning for our June 20th cruise but got waitlisted. Has anybody been successful with this?

Second question, is there a safe in in the room?

Don't know about the dinner wait-list, we've always done late seating.....more time in the ports, moore time to get ready for dinner.
There are safes in the rooms, you slide your Key To The World card to use them. I use them all the time, have not ever had a problem.

Aen - If you don't get changed to early seating you may be able to do it when you get on board. During check in they will give you a Navigator that tells you where to go to try to get the change. You should do that as early as you can. It worked for us last November, but probably depends on the number of people making the request. Good Luck.

Justmestace - I used to like the late seating also and would never have considered early seating .... until I cruised with a 4 year old. Changes many of your priorities and options.

Hi!

About the waitlist--we booked our cruise 4 months out and were waitlisted for early seating. A few days ago (now 2 months out) I called DCL about something else and asked about our dining status. The CM said we were still on the waitlist, but noticing that we are cruising with a toddler and preschooler, she said, "Let me see if I can do a little magic...I can't guarantee anything but try back in a few days." Sure enough I checked our reservation on the website and we now have early seating!

If we didn't have our little ones with us I'd take late seating in a heartbeat, but everyone will be much happier if our kids can eat and get to bed at a reasonable hour! :)

That's true about having the little ones.....my DS was 8 the first time we cruised, and we missed two shows (the early show/late seating) because he fell asleep after we got back from our shore excursions.
Luckily, the 2nd time we cruised, he stayed awake, and we got to see the shows.
So, yes, we should have had early dinner that time!!!! ::yes::

Except, I wonder....would he have slept through the early dinner??? LOL

For those of us living on the West Coast, late seating is more in tune with our dinner schedule. Early seating is just too early. Besides, we figure if our kids get hungry before dinner, there is always Pluto's, Scoops, and/or room service. HTH

One tip regarding the safes: Instead of using your KTTW card, use another card with a stripe instead. The same card that locked the safe is the one that has to open it. If the person whose KTTW card was used to lock the safe isn't in the room at the time someone else needs to get in it, you're out of luck. We always use my Hallmark Gold Crown card and keep it in our over-the-door shoe hanger (hidden behind some other items so no one can see it) so anyone can get in the safe at any time. This was a suggestion I read on these boards, and it has really come in handy!
