Dinner Times at MGM Aug. 12?

Just called to make some PS's. Tentative plans are MGM for Th. Aug. 12, and stay for Fantasmic that night. Thought dinner around 7 would work, then over to get seats. The schedule shows Fantasmic at 9 that night. I figure if we can't get seats, no biggie, we've seen it before. We'll go ride TOT instead! However, Mama Melrose isn't taking reservations after 5 that night, and Prime Time Cafe says no reservations after 6. Took a 5:55 time at PT, but wondering what's going on. Are you not supposed to eat unless you are doing a Fantasmic package, or is there some big private party that night?

No, that seems to be the trend at MGM lately. Later times should open up as the date gets closer.
We were in the predicament last year and we got our choice of later times about 3 weeks before our trip. We are currently waiting for later times to open up for July 19, but nothing has as of yet. In fact we were recently told, Mama Melrose only serves dinner from 4:00-4:30.
So the best advice I can give you is keep watching these boards for advice of later times opening up and to try calling back every once in a while.

You should be able to call back around 30 days before your reservation and get a later time. We had a 5:50 pm PS for 50's Primetime (in July) and I called back 28 days before that date and was able to get it changed to 7pm. So I would try to call back about 4 weeks from the date you're going.
