Dinner Shows?

What are the best dinner shows to go to?

Was thinking along the lines of Dolly Prtons Dixie Stampede. However there seems to be so many to choose from.

We did Dolly Partons dixie stampede in March. We all thoroughly enjoyed it.
Liked the Pirates one too..
Hated Arabian Nights though..

Capones is quite good (cheap and cheerful food and a laugh a minute). Also Disney do the Luau at the Polynesian resort with Mickey and Minnie and that's meant to be nice. There's also a Luau at Seaworld but the Disney one is likely to be better.

We intended to go to the Dolly Parton dinner buffet on our last trip but we never managed to fit it in

I've heard mainly good reviews and our Floridian friends recommended it to us too as they visited last year with their grand daughter

You can get discount coupons from the local booklets but I seem to remember a tourist site where you could buy tickets which included the photo - typically I can't find it now!

The adult prices are more than I've seen in some places but you'd make a saving if you were entitled to a free kid's ticket

We went to Medieval Times this past trip and it was the first dinner show that we'd done in Orlando! We hated the price of the drinks in the pre-show area($5 for a coke) and the aggressive nature of our server trying to elicit a tip despite his having been rude throughout! However, the food was good and my son loved the knights fighting and cheering for our side! All in all it was a good night out and we would like to do a different one next time..................
so, should we choose Dollys, Arabian nights or the Pirate one? Would love to hear from anyone who has done any/all of these about the food/entertainment and how they compare to Medieval Times!

Went to the Hoop-Dee-Doo at Disney and it was great and will probably go back next year. Dolly Partons will also get a look in next year due to a lot of good reviews. But the Pirates Dinner Show? Never again. Expensive to get in, rubbish pre-show, terrible food with flat beer and coke, an unfathomable storyline and the request for a tip of 15% from your inept server. The only good thing about it is the impressive set. Stay clear, for the love of God, stay clear.

We've done Dolly's, Arabian Knights and Medieval Times. Only Dolly's would get a return visit from us. MT was a good show with reasonable food, AK was a good show with poor food and Dolly's , we felt, was just excellent all round!! Believe the hype!!

We did Wild Bill's for New Year/Millennium. Unfortunately, I was asleep for most of it, so I don't remember much. There was some showgirl dancing and some lassoing and some Indian guy. Don't whether that still exists, but I get the feeling Virgin have stopped doing trips there.

We did Arabian Nights and found it awful (I was awake for that one!) There wasn't much variety to the food, so if you didn't like one thing, you were more than likely not going to like anything! The show was just as bad. A few dancing horses and some jump-on-the-horse, jump-off-the-horse stunts, but again nothing that was very entertaining.

Originally, this time (in 4 days!!!) we were gonna do both Dolly Parton and Pirates, but owing to a restrictive budget, we opted for just the one show. We picked Dolly Parton, but by the time we got around to booking the Dolly show was not coming up on the Excursions lists, so we had to opt for Pirates. However, I'm not disappointed, and have a good feeling that it is going to be the best of the three shows we would have done!

I think it is. There were kids there when we went. It isn't that adult really. The songs are fab. I think there was one joke that kids might not get but it was really fun. Also kids like the entrance bit because you go in to this really small shop (usuallly the que is out the door) knock on the small door a certain amount of times and then have to say a password. Then you get pulled in and have your photo taken infront of a line up background.

It is a lot of fun and I think kids would definately enjoy it. The only thing that may put you off is that the food is all Italian and nothing really kiddie orientated (not sure how fussy your kids are but I know I probably wouldn't have eaten much), They had I think mainly pasta dishes and salad which was really nice.

Also just remembered the Grovesner resort does a Detective Goofy murder mystery show. Its a meal where you get to solve who dunn it. It's meant to be really fun. Haven't been since I was around 12 and then it didn't have the disney aspect it was just a murder mystery but that was good because you got to participate and win prizes. Probably a bit more kiddy orientated now though so should be OK for 8-10 year old.

Tell me more about Dollys! What does the show consist of? What was the food like? Would it keep a 6 yr old boy entertained!?

To provide more info on Dolly's would risk spoiling the experience, but, in a nutshell, it involved the audience being split into two sides, North and South (American Civil War period). They then cheer on their respective teams in a series of contests and races, mostly on horseback. It all finishes off with the audience taking part in the final event. Lots of comedy and drama, superb show! Go early and take in the pre-show and view all the horses in their stables too!!

We have done Dollys and the Pirates dinner show.

Hated the Pirates and their constant attempts to milk more money from you. Thought Dollys was great. For me the pre-show was better than the real show. Tons of food.

I'm tempted by the Outta Control Magic Show but I've never heard much said about it.
