I want to get to AKL just one night for dinner, would you recommend we try Jiko or Boma?

We are adventurous and we enjoy good food, good wine, and good service. We'll be three adults and a 3 year old who is never limited to eating off the kids menu - she's happy trying new things too.

Jiko or Boma?

Either place would be fine. Boma would be a bit less $$. I guess you should decide what kind of dining experience you would prefer- buffet or traditional table service.

I am trying both on this trip. It sound like you would appreciate Jiko. I heard the service and wine list are fantastic. I am, excited to try the ostrich.

We did both on our last trip....

Jiko for supper and Boma for breakfast...

Boma was great...Love that juice they serve...

Dopey was not impressed with Jiko...the waiter was cranky and not helpful at all. He totally ignored us. Our meal was ok but we didnt stay long. We even had our desserts to go. I dont think I could ever convince Dopey to go back!

I have not eaten at either (just breakfast at Boma) but I have heard great things about both so we decided to do both on our Oct trip. The menus to both look great!

I really preferred Boma, as did my family, especially my husband, who was quite enamored of all-you-can-eat prime rib :)

I've eaten at both several times and both rank high on my list of Disney favs. They are very different dining experiences, Boma is hustle bustle and Jiko is very adult. If you are adventurous and love trying new foods, I would suggest Boma over Jiko as Jiko's food, although excellent, is not that different (except appetizers). The entrees and desserts are nothing unusual. Boma, on the other hand, has many many items you will not have experienced any place else. Also, the 3 year old, might not enjoy the quiet, dark setting in Jiko where dinners generally run 90 minutes.

Jiko or Boma?

I have not been to Jiko, but can absolutely recommend Boma for you:

You will have an eating adventure with basics from the kids buffet, a homemade soup bar with 4 fresh unique soups, a variety of breads (not things you'll see elsewhere), vegetables, seafood, African dishes and no limit to how much you can try. The service is good as well, not just your server, but at the food pods there is staff waiting to explain the various dishes.

Boma is casual dining and with a 3yo casual will be so much more fun at AKL. There is a drum banging evening parade she can watch or participate in, there are animals to view, the playground near the pool is just right for her and there is storytelling around the fire.

Go to Boma in loose casual wear and come back tell us all about it!
