Dinner/Fireworks at California Grill

Planning a SPECIAL night with the girlfriend.

We're hoping to see the fireworks from California Grill. Fireworks are at 9:00, what time should we make our reservation? What special requests do we need to make? Is there a particular table/section that is better? Any other tips?

I would make ressies for 8:15 - 8:30! No special other ressies required.
You cannot make table/section requests. However most of the tables for 2 are along the windows. But really MOST people do get up from their tables and walk over to the side facing WDW and watch from there. Also you can go outside the restaurant and watch from there also.

Dress code is 'business casual' type. However I have seen jeans, etc there.

I would make ADR for around 7 or 7:30. When you arrive at the desk, advise them that you would like, if at all possible, to wait for a window seat to view the fireworks. If you're prepared to wait, leave it in their hands and you will likely be pleased with the table. If you are lucky and a good table is available right away, dine slowly so that the fireworks end a great meal.

I am going in Nov and WISHES will be at 9 pm also, so I have an ADR for 7:20. This way, if I get sat right away I can have a leisurely dinner and enjoy WISHES with dessert. If I have to wait (and I will stress to the host that I do not mind waiting for a window table) I will definitely have a table buy 8 pm or so.
