I'm excited to finally eat at CRT! That said, I haven't read too many encouraging things about the food. Does anyone have any recent dinner experiences? I'm thinking of ordering the beef tenderloin, but I haven't ruled out the other options yet. What would you order?

I had the beef tenderloin and it was just okay. It wasn't the best cut of meat, and wasn't really seared correctly (had no crust to it). Going to get something else next time. Their food always has a "banquet" type catered food vibe rather than tasting like each dish is made to order. Going to CRT really isn't about the food though.

I don't eat pork/beef and the fish special was Salmon. The menu doesn't tell you it's got some type of pork throw-in, but it did.

It was a very mediocre meal overall. Good appetizer (Scallops) and alcohol options. Glad I did it for the kids, but honestly I hope to never do that one again.

Yeah, I'm doing it for the kids, not the food. Honestly, I'll be lucky if they even nibble on the nuggets. But it's something we've never done before and will probably never do again. They're at the "magic" ages of 8 and 4 right now, so I'm thinking it's now or never. Still... I'm hoping for a decently edible meal. I'd rather not have to eat dinner twice, ya know?

The tenderloin is usually a safe bet. At CRT it feels more like a soft circle of NY Strip. But presentation is very nice. Chicken and pork can be very good but throughout Disney dining I've been surprised by less wonderful pork entrees often enough to give up on it.

The vegetarian option has potential, except that they're serving garbanzo beans as a side dish to a chick pea entree. Could have just named it Chick Pea Two Ways.

The menu is seasonal so the offerings change. They may be different when you dine than what they are showing on online menus right now.

We've been there a few times over the last few years and I can't say I've disliked any of the meals I have had. Obviously the primary draw there is not the food, but I'd never describe it as anything close to being bad.

My daughters are the same age. It was cool, but I actually thought Akerhaus was better food and a better princess experience all together.

You certainly don't go there for the food. But I was very pleasantly surprised by how good our lunch was there last week. Along with the Trois Pistoles beer.

If it helps, we did CRT dinner in 2016, 2017 and 2019. The food was SOOO much better in 2019. I had the grilled beef tenderloin entree, with the scallop appetizer and I really enjoyed it. I think many of the reviews are outdated.

We went for lunch this past June. I had the tenderloin, medium rare, and I thought it was very good.

We really enjoyed it in 2019. After reading all of the reviews I was prepared for disappointment, but it was quite good. My husband, who's a food snob (so am I, tbh) said it was one of the few meals where he felt like he got his money's worth. Of course, I may not have actually told him how much it cost...

Haha, I love this post. My DH says the same thing: in an ideal world, he would rather be at a signature restaurant like Yachtsman or Tiffins (we always do one signature per trip, letting the kids know that is "for daddy" just like the character meals are for them), but out of all the character meals he likes the food at CRT best. If he knew we were paying 150% MORE for CRT than for a signature he'd think that was insane.

My DH tells me “book it but please don’t tell me the price.” I can handle that lol

I am thinking about the chickpea option personally. I quite like vegan food but i am not a huge fan of fake meats so its nice to have an option that isnt made with soy mince.

Going in 2020 for 1st time. I’ll probably go with the tenderloin. I’ve done Akershus and loved it! But CRT is an insane markup $$$. Guess someone has to pay for CEOs $25m salary.
