Have ADR's for Boma. Have never been there before. I have read mixed reviews. Does anyone know how spicy the food is. I really want to go to experience it but if the food is all spicy I won't enjoy myself. Please let me know what your experiences were like. I need to decide whether to cancel and try some where else or enjoy Boma's. Can anyone help me? Thanks.

It's not hot-spicy, it's more like savoury-spicy: lots of ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg -- that sort of thing. All the food we've had has been very tasty. If you're not sure about something, there's lots of staff around to ask, as well.

Thanks for your help. I was afraid it was going to be hot spicy. I'm all for savoury spicy. I read on some site that you had to watch it if you can't handle spices. I don't want to miss this opportunity to try it especially with the free dining plan. This way we can enjoy the atmosphere of the AKL as well. Thanks again.

Hi... I am South African Canadian ;) And altho I like Boma I do wish it was more spicy. Friends that dont eat spicy food, loved Boma and described it also as more savoury, sweet. It is a great place to try different foods aw well as tastes - its on our list for the next trip again. Hope you enjoy it :goodvibes

There is lots of choice--some spicy, some not so spicy. I was worried about what my teenagers would eat but we all had lots of foods that we loved! I loved trying things that I would not normally eat but the kids wanted familiar food. Boma has both! We are going for two weeks in August and are eating at Boma twice!! :yay: Can't wait!

We ate at Boma and really enjoyed the variety offered.

You should be a little adventerous to really enjoy Boma.

My son has food allergies and they were absolutely amazing there!

Good Luck and if you are there at dark, make sure you go to see the animals. They even have night vision goggles to look through and a great African Guide giving lots of good information.

What a great resort!

Boma is our favourite restaurant.

I do not eat hot spicy....(I eat mild or medium chicken wings). If I can eat everything at Boma, it is not hot spicy.

We ate there and we hated it. Oh well....you can't win 'em all, eh? :rotfl2:

We found the food not hot-spicy at all. Even the food that had "spicy" in the name wasn't hot spicy. We like hot-spicy food so this contributed to our disappointment. On the other hand, it used a lot of another spice that we didn't like which also contributed to our disappointment.

It is indeed somewhat sweet / spicy but there's something to please everyone. The soups are wonderful, the salads too and the desserts are not to be missed! Breakfast is also wonderful.

Everyone should try Boma at least once! :thumbsup2

BOMA is always a "must" on our trips and we were just there this past Friday evening. Their Coconut Curry Seafood Stew, Butternut Squash soup and Crusted Salmon are my favourites.

It's definitely a worthwhile experience. We always try to get a reservation for when it first opens as it gets quite busy.
