DH wants a dinner with live music or some type of atmosphere. Not the Beirgarten.

Any suggestions?

I was dragged to Hoop Dee Doo review for years by my parents...I never cared for it but they sure did (endless beer ha!)

I always loved the Luau at the Polynesian (again, endless beer ha)

I have heard Raglan Road has entertainment later in the evening, haven't been there though...can't wait to check it out though

:)

It's not live music, but how about Teppan Edo? The chef that we had at our table was very entertaining.
With a good seating location at the right time, you could watch Illuminations from La Hacienda or Rose & Crown.
There's a belly dancer at Marrakesh. The guys in my travel party would love that! I'll have to add it to our upcoming travel plans.
'Ohana definitely has a great family atmosphere...we love the entertainer there! She is so much fun for kids and adults, too. If you time it right, you can watch Wishes from the restaurant.

Raglan Road has Irish music and step dancers. We were there last week - we had an early reservation - 6:30 I think - and the entertainment had already started before we were seated.

Raglan Road is lovely.

Ask to be seated in the main room if you want to enjoy the entertainment. the side room will not give you a view of the dancers.

my recollection is that Nicki & Todd hated the food at Raglan Road, right?

How about Maya Grill at CSR? If you like Mexican food...hubby and I ate there last year, mid-week. There were only a few tables occupied - the atmosphere is dark/romantic ("torches", and the big replica temple in there) There was a strolling guitar player in full costume...was very relaxing meal and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

I'd go with HDDR. Most of the other restaurants with entertainment (RR, 'Ohana, TE, SoA etc.) have all been somewhat disappointing in one way or another. HDDR is the only dinner with entertainment that we enjoy.

If it's the entertainment he wants than HDDR is the answer. You know the food deal. You'll survive(just kidding, it is better than most people give it credit for.) But the show is the thing. You'll be repeating corny jokes for days. Just grin and *bear* it. (Go to the show, you'll get it)

Yup that is right, we didnt like RR at all.

We were kicking around the Maya Grill....love the menu and the idea of the guitar player is perfect!

What about the Poly Luau? Is that a waste of $$?

I like the thought of HDDR but he isnt getting excited by it.

Wish the musician was still at the Poly, I could get in for dinner and we could chill at the bar and listen to the music

I also vote for Teppan Edo. Sure, there's no music. But the chefs are very entertaining while they cook!

Also, RAGLAN ROAD at DTD is wonderful too!!!! They have live music & step dancers. Quite entertaining! :goodvibes

We have gone to the luau twice and enjoyed it both times. The storyline is a bit cheesy but the dancers, music and the fire twirler more than made up for the cheesiness. The food was pretty good. The only thing we didn't care much for was the rice. But, that's because we are from Louisiana and rice just isn't good rice unless it's smothered in gravy.

The Hoop Dee Doo Review was fun. We've seen it three, maybe four times. The comedian is the best part of the show. The food is your basic fare...fried chicken, mashed potatos, salad, etc. but it's good.

Can you get Pina Coladas at the Poly Luau? Can we bring them in from the Tambu Lounge? Not a huge wine or beer drinker

I remember seeing a couple at a table near us with drinks but I don't remember what they were. I was probably too busy checking out the buff dancing guys.:lmao:

I pulled this off allears.net for the Luau. These drinks cost extra, of course:

Signature Cocktail
Pele's Fire Punch - The Volcano Goddess' blend of Bacardi rum, Myers' Original Dark Rum, Banana Liqueur, blackberry brandy, pineapple juice, and Grenadine served in an authentic, hand-carved monkey coconut. You keep the coconut! $14.95

Specialty Cocktails
All specialty cocktails are served in our souvenir Disney's Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show Glass

Fire Knife Quencher - Ketel One Vodka, Peach Schnapps, cranberry juice, and orange juice $11.25

Pina Colada or Strawberry Daiquiri - with Bacardi rum $11.25

Maui Margarita - Jose Cuervo Gold Tequila, Triple Sec, Sweet-and-Sour, and lime juice $11.25

Island Breeze - Captain Morgan Original Spiced Rum, Parrot Bay Coconut Rum, Bacardi 151 Rum, pineapple juice, and cranberry juice $11.25

Captain's Mai Tai - Captain Morgan Original Spiced Rum, Amaretto, and tropical juices topped with a float of Myers' Original Dark Rum $11.25

HDDR was a lot of fun. Food is just OK, but there's plenty of it and I can tell you that my 5-year old was in stitches with the show. The wine/sangria helps to get in a relaxed mood. It's also a full evening thing, not just a dinner, but you feel immersed in it for a while.
