Dinner after Animal Kingdom

We went to Rainforest Cafe after Animal Kingdom on our last trip. It's right where you exit the park. We loved it!

Since you've got young children, I would probably grab something at the Mara and take the kids to the pool and/or the night activities at the AK. At that age, my kids were not in the mood to go to a sit down restaurant after park touring all day.

This is what I would do. Grab something at the Mara, stroll around the resort and look at animals, then an early night back at your room.

I for one can't have a nice TS meal, then get right on a bus. Makes me a little queasy. I'd rather get back to the resort and then eat. For us, we are doing AK in the morning and then MK in the evening, so we will leave AK and go to the Contempo Cafe at the Contemporary, then ride the monorail to MK (we have to get at least one monorail ride in!!). Our other AK day, we have Y&Y for an early dinner, with time to poke around before we head out. We are hoping that River of Light will be up and running by then!

I wasn't able to get Y & Y anywhere near closing time so I booked Tusker House. We don't have a character meal planned this trip which is unusual for us so this ressie would fill that void. However, I don't want to eat there if the food is terrible. How is the food and character interaction?
For those asking why we are not eating at any of the options at AKL, it's because we are staying there and already eating there a lot. However, I just realized we have Boma's booked for breakfast twice on our non park days but we haven't booked it for dinner on this trip. Boma's is one of our favorite places to eat.
So, should I keep trying for a Y & Y spot, stick with Tusker House (never eaten there before), or go with a tried and true favorite, Boma's????
WWYD?

If you get the Landry's Select Card, you don't even need a reservation. You just walk in, show the host/hostess the card, and you get priority seating. It's $25, but that $25 goes toward your bill. If it's your "Birthday Month" you get another $25 off. Just wanted to put that out there as an option if you want to eat at Y&Y and want a little flexibility as to when you show up. The card is so much better than a reservation or ADR.

We also love Boma dinner and Tusker House! Tusker House is, IMHO, the best character meal on property and the food is really good. I think between Boma, Tusker House and Y&Y you can't go wrong!

Great tip! Thank you.

LoL we say that all the time...This trip It's actually happening--->:scared1: I still can't believe it's true...:surfweb:.. I mean not eating at BOMA that is...
I am sorry for your loss. I know what you mean!

We love Boma but we also love Yak & Yeti. Rainforest Cafe food not so much.:crazy2: The Mara is also our fav. CS on property. We tried Tiffins for lunch this past week - absolutely WONDERFUL. But you're looking for dinner...and dinner is $$$. We have been boycotting most of the Disney buffets the past few trips as their buffet prices are outrageous. Yak & Yeti would probably be cheaper than Boma. We've only had lunch at Tusker House - enjoyed it as well. I don't think you'd be wrong to stick with that as you'd get the characters too...

Tusker House has a really good buffet. The food is good and varied. Better than some of the more popular ones. I think you would enjoy it.
