Having just read through most of the restaurant thread Im leaning towards

Lucky Nugget Saloon.....love buffets at WDW so give this a try

Possible Cafe Mickeys :confused3

and maybe Annettes .

Liked the look of Blue lagoon til I read the menu....seems lot of seafood and unusual food which kids wouldnt go for.

Any other suggestions much appreciated...any other buffet style??

We will have shareholder discount and annual passes too

3 kids aged 14..eat anything,12 quite fussy!...8 very selective!!!:headache:

we did cafe mickey last time and whilst we enjoyed it I don't think the food was brilliant for the price but the character intervention was great. Thinking of trying lucky nugget saloon too this time and maybe CM for breakfast

Also agree with you on blue lagoon, although i love seafood I don't think the rest of my family would be too thrilled with the menu, so i'm thinking of trying Walt's instead.

We enjoyed rainforest cafe last time, but planet hollywood was appalling.

I know what you mean about Blue Lagoon. I would love to go here but it would be a waste as my kids would not eat anything off the menu - which has just been updated I think

What about Rainforest Cafe. My kids love it. If your kids are really scared of thunder maybe steer clear as it can get quite noisy.

Plaza gardens does a great afternoon tea buffet and it has characters. The buffet is cakes and jellies, puddings etc but is very reasonable.

Inventions at Disneyland Hotel does a character buffet but have read the food is rather fancy and would not be to my kids taste. Quite expensive but it is The Disneyland Hotel.

Hope this helps

We love Rainforest Cafe and Planet Hollywood in Orlando

Just thought would be nice to try somewhere different.

to be honest characters arent a big thing for our kids anymore....

need to look around more I think :confused3

We ate in Walts last year around Christmas. Really beautiful setting and the kids meals were certainly plain enough not to cause complaint. I think my kids both had some sort of meatballs and spaghetti, and I know there were dishes involving chicken and mashed potato also available.

Only complaint with Walts was that as a veggie, I had only one menu choice and it was not nice at all.

Oh, forgot to mention that Plaza Gardens do a buffet dinner. There is nothing like haute cuisine on the menu, but for a basic and filling meal, this might be worth a look.

It's been 18 mths since I ate here, but there was a good range of starters....smoked fish, salads, breads, fruit. Main courses were basic items such as chicken, pork stew. gammon and there were loads of veg, rice, chips, potato gratin etc. The most impressive part was the huge range of desserts, glorious all of them.

Kids were able to get chicken goujons, sausages, fish bites. If the kids are fussy this might be a good choice. As I said, the food is no fancier than canteen style, but the setting is nice and it's good value.

Buffet style meals can be found in the following locations:

Plaza Gardens
Lucky Nugget
Innoventions (DLH) - character meal
Billy Bob's (for Dinner)
Parkside Diner at HNY (they ruined this restaurant for a stupid buffet)
Beaver Creek Tavern (Sequoia Lodge)
There is also one at the NBC, and I hear the Cheyenne and Santa Fe have now been made buffets.

My favs are Plaza Gardens, Innoventions and Billy Bob's.

Just got back from Paris after a four day trip with my four year old daughter. Cafe Mickey gets a big, big thumbs up from me. The menu is not fantastic, and it is a bit pricey, but the well organised staff make sure that the characters spend plenty of time with each table

We suffered a lot of queue jumping in the parks when trying to get to see the characters, so this made up for it in a big way

Plaza Gardens restaurant gets thumbs up from me too - we had a character tea and buffet lunch there in February. The food is good, theres loads of choice, its not rushed, and because its a bit more expensive than the fast food places, its not so busy as other restaurants in the main park.

We would have had similar problems with my daughter getting to meet the characters if we hadn't done the character tea - it was well worth the money I thought.

I wish we had a problem with our kids not liking the expensive fancy dinners!

What kind of Seafood dishes are in the Cafe, if anyone knows. Since coming to Europe we have experienced a chronic Shellfish deficiet, and I am all about finding a good place on vacation to have some good eats. :)

We have one daughter who likes nothing more than a full 4 course top of the range meal. Then my son, who despite my best efforts, is a golden arches fan. Buffet style seems to work out best for us because both can usually find something that they like. I love fine dining and it's sinful when you see food going to waste when my son refuses to eat.........

Blue Lagoon is the seafood restaurant of most note in the park. Haven't been yet, but hope to on next trip. Might be worth having a look at their menu.

We went for 4 nights last weekand had the buffet one evening at billybobs, and quite enjoyed it. There are two buffet selections, one for kids and one adults, although both ate from both. The adults had a selction of chilli con carne (really nice, not too spicy hot), ribs, salmon, roast ham, roast beef (although a bit red for me still very tasty), pasta, meat balls, and somethings else. There was also a starters buffet of various cold meats, couscous, rice, salad potatoes etc. Childs buffet was the ubiquitous (sp?) chicken nuggets, chips, pasta, bolognaise sauce hotdogs and other stuff.

Pudding menu was very varied!

I think it was €30 adults/ €12 kids, and you could keep eating until you burst, not bad value. The menu is very similar at Hotel Cheyenne for their evening meal.

If your kids want to see the characters, Cafe Disney is a must, and we had one of our better meals their.

Rainforest Cafe was the worst meal we had, although it is a nice place to eat, the value (€104 euros for steak and shrimps, burger and two kids burger meals, plus drinks ) was very poor.

I've heard the hotdogs in the park are good too, which means I have to go back to try them!!

Our problem exactly as my DS14 is up to try anything,,,

and I mean anything :rotfl:

My DD12 used to be easy to please but oncoming teenagerhood seems to have changed her appetite and likes and dislikes

My youngest in no way takes after his parents LOVE of food

Hence Buffet pleases everyone!!

On saying that one of the best WDW meals we ALL enjoyed was JIKO at AKL in WDW.

even my youngest ate everything in front of him and the menu was very diverse!!

KIDS hey !!:rotfl2:

The Blue Lagoon is very poor and has a rat problem. For good seafood at DLP, check out the Yacht Club at the Newport Bay Club - fantastic!

Okayyyyyy...maybe we will rethink Blue Lagoon.

Actually, we ate at Yacht Club last time and it wasn't bad....good thinking.

Not a dinner, but we love the Steakhouse Sunday brunch. I cannot remember how much it is but it includes wine and soft drinks. The character interaction is good - although last time there was only four characters the previous couple of times there have been about eight different ones. It is between noon and 3pm, and we take nearly the three hours but then don't bother with an evening meal.

Plaza Gardens is a cheap buffet, we have never had the character afternoon tea, but the food is definitely not as good as Inventions or Steakhouse. We have wanted to try Lucky Nugget but it never been open in the evenings when we have been there.
