Hello. Will be dining with four people and I Might have the TIW card (not sure yet if I'm going to purchase it).

So, if I'm out to dinner with my person and another couple, can I use the discount for the four of us, but NOT have to pay for the other couple? In other words, can their dinner charges be put on their own magic band account and NOT mine?

Thanks!

That's not the rule. The rule is that all discounted meals must be on the same check, and that check must be paid by the cardholder.

In practice, depending on the restaurant and your server, different things can happen. But the rule is that not only do all the meals have to be on the same check, but you, as the cardholder, would be expected to pay it.

Agree with PP. The rules state you must pay. Have some gotten a server to ignore the rule, yes, but you must be prepared to pay.

I've had for YEARS. I have had them break it up once at Sci-Fi but only because it was better for them as we were in different cars with different servers.

All other times I have had to pay so I paid with cash (collected) or credit card with the others paying me cash.

From the website and repeated on card booklet I was given:
"The Tables in Wonderland member must be in attendance at the meal,
present the Tables in Wonderland card, a driver’s license or state ID,
and pay for the meal, in order to apply the discount."

The rule is you have to pay, whether or not your server enforces that is up to them. Last trip I would just give my friend cash to cover my part of the meal.

If the server sees money changing hands, they have the right to invalidate the discount. Follow the rule or get creative, but don't get caught.

It all depends on the server. I've had some servers that happily split the bill among several magic bands and some who stick to the rule of one payment by the cardholder. (Note: If they do stick to the rule, don't complain.)

Sometimes my friends will buy me a gift card for the price of the meal and I'll use it towards the bill. (You can split payment methods however you want, as long as they are all "yours." So you can pay part cash, part magic band, or whatever.)

It really depends on the restaurant and the server. We've had servers charge different $ amounts to two different cards on one check, we've had to pay the whole thing before and take cash from our friends.

Let your friends know ahead of time that you don't mind using your TiW card on their meals so they get the discount as well, but the server may require one payment from you and they may need to bring cash.

9 out of 10 times, we've been told that the TiW holder must pay for the meal.....for everyone. It's kind of a pain when half the group wants to use CCs, not cash.

No, you're supposed to pay the whole bill. Tell your friends to bring cash to reimburse you after each meal - you'll be able to break out their portion from the receipt. You can go to the front desk and make payments on your account in order to keep the amount charged to your credit card at the end of the trip or if you meet the spending limit for the magic band to a minimum.

Indeed, the rule is that the card holder must pay the entire bill. That being said, we've split the bill many, many times without any problem at all. I've always asked politely if we could use more than one credit card, and the wait staff has always obliged. So be prepared to pay, but don't be afraid to ask!

We just always warned the other people ahead of time and they get Disney gift cards. They give us some before the meal and I use those to pay for at least part of the meal.
I actually usually have gift cards to pay with to. Good way to save up ahead of time.

I traveled with my granddaughter and my sister and her family of 3 total. Everything was on one check. We did the math to figure out how to split the check between the two groups then asked the waiters to put x amount on my credit card and the rest on the magic band. We did it though 10 days over spring break no problem.
