We will be a group of 4 adults with two of those being incredibly plain and picky eaters. They like Burgers and Steaks.
I have a free evening and would love to include something unique or a dining experience such as O’hana....no character meals....maybe something at a resort hotel with a more quiet vibe.
I was considering Coral Reef or California Grill...possibly the German restaurant in Epcot?

We already have reservations for Boma, Jiko, Paddlefish, Nine Dragons and Skippers Jungle Nav, and Rainforest Cafe. We are staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

My MIL is picky, she did ok with Teppan Edo and 50s PrimeTime Cafe.

California Grill could nicely fill the bill for your group's wants. Also, Tokyo Dining which has a beautiful setting and many tables with views of the lake and Illuminations while it remains. They have a bento box that includes steak in it and possibly even a steak alone entree -check the menu.

Should you opt for 'Ohana you might want to try for a later reservation as it's quieter in the evening when most of the munchkins are in bed.

I had a very nice steak the last time we at at the Wave. I know that place gets mixed reviews, but we've always had good luck there.

Enjoy your trip!

California Grill would be a good option. They have standard fare (great steaks, etc as well as sushi and more gourmet food.
Do they like Seafood? Flying Fish is also very good. You can get steaks there as well as very good seafood.
Have you looked at the menu for Chef de France? Its good and not that adventurous.
Le Cellier in Canada?

Well Ohana is my answer for most questions it our favorite place to eat we eat there twice every trip for dinner and usually a breakfast as well. But if you have 2 plain eaters I would say look at Sci-Fi and 50's Primetime are very good. You can get some really good burgers at Sci-Fi (and I love the onion rings) and both of my picky girls love 50's.

Flying Fish is excellent and has a quiet, resort vibe. And I can attest that they have really good steak! Hollywood Brown Derby may also fit the bill if you are looking for something in a park.

I have three VERY picky eaters in my family and they love ‘Ohana. I would suggest checking out the menus with them to see what type of entrees they prefer and go with that restaurant. The Boathouse at DS is also a good option. Great steaks and a large menu of other options as well.

Have your plain & picky eaters looked at the menus for your current ADRs? The plain burger & steak picky eaters I know wouldn’t touch most of the restaurants on your list as most of the burgers and steaks all have weird sauces or sides...

That’s exactly what I was thinking.

My son is very picky. He won’t eat anything at Jiko, Nine Dragons, or Skipper Canteen. He hated Boma for breakfast because the hash browns had a weird aftertaste (something they fried in the same oil).

As much as I loathe buffets, it’s actually the best place to dine with a picky eater. There’s always something for him to eat.

I have to agree, Jiko, Boma and Skipper Canteen are all extremely risky for picky eaters. Heck I’m not even picky and there isn’t really anything at Skipper Canteen that appeals to me.

Are you on the DDP? Shula’s at the Dolphin is the best steakhouse on property, but it’s DDP eligible. Maybe even something like The Plaza in place of Skipper Canteen, it’s very much a burger/cafe type place. And for Boma and Jiko, maybe pick one and replace one fo the meals with something with less exotic flavors.

We have a couple of picky eaters in our family. Meat and Potatoes, super boring. Boma is actually works for my picky eater because they have the carved meat, some breads, and a small kids buffet with I think spaghetti and a couple of other things. Skipper Canteen is an absolute no. They have meats, but the sauces are different than what a picky eater will like. Same with Jiko. Biergarten is okay... one picky eater in our party loves it because of all of the meats. The other one hates it and literally eats a hot dog and piece of bread.

All of that being said, if you want to please your picky eaters, I agree that places like 50s Prime Time, Sci-Fi will work because they're all meat and potatoes type places. Also Beaches and Cream, Liberty Tree Tavern.

50s prime time is probably your best for basic american food. They have good stuff though!

I was actually pleasantly surprised by 50s Primetime. It was the one place my in-laws wanted to go...I ordered the crabcake app and it was DELICIOUS

The German restaurant in Epcot might have food your picky friends will like, but I would definitely not count on it being quiet, particularly if the band is playing. Also as a party of 4 you will be seated with another party of 4 at the same table.

I agree with Disneywishes14 to check out Flying Fish or Brown Derby. I don't eat seafood at all, but have found the steak at Flying Fish to be excellent. We've also found Brown Derby to be mostly quiet, and really enjoyed the food.

Maybe the term picky eater isn't the same for everyone. Boma(they love all the meats and desserts), Jiko(filet-plain), Nine Dragons(fried rice and spring rolls as well as the ice cream are favorites) and Skipper Canteen(steak salad with dressing on the side and tastes like chicken are plain) are past favorites and all (other than Boma) accommodate requests for no weird sauces and changes to side dishes.

We decided on O'Hana!
