Dining with large parties

I wonder if it is different on the Dream??

Once on the Magic, we were a party of 3, asked for a small table, and were placed at a 12-top! Dinner took FOREVER! :lmao:

So, if we have confirmed early seating, there is still a chance we could get late seating? I'm confused? Once we get on the boat, can we request that we are together? Do they normally allow it if requested there?

That would upset me. I'm all about meeting new people and wouldn't mind sitting with others but a 12 top seems a little excessive to group strangers.

Great info about how the servers only handle 18 guests at a time. We'll be sailing with 19 people. I wonder what they will do with that 1 extra person. Originally we had 22 people but 3 dropped out. Maybe 2 more will drop out. I hope this doesn't cause a problem.

We have sailed twice as a party of 16. The other times there were less. When they were less, we had no problems. Both times we were 16, we had to tell them the first night that we did not want to be seperated into two tables. We explained that we had all come from different states and this was the only time of the day to see each other. It was not a problem. In Luminers and PC they had to put two oblongs togetheer and it made for a 'funny looking table" but they sat us all together each and very night after the first night. We loved it! each night we split up next to someone different. So the first night after the lifeeboat drill go to the restaurant where you start your rotation. Tell the HS and I bet it will happen. I do not want to start a heated thread, but I do want to offer the gentle reminder; be preparreed to tip your service team well. When you are a group that large, you are the only ones they serve that rotation and therefore they count on your group alone. Also not it is hard to have a large group because you can not stagger th meals. They all have to be delivered at the same time. Have a wonderful cruise.:wizard:

If you are confirmed for early it should not change, and if you are linked you SHOULD be together. On one cruise half of our family had a different rotation and we were only 8 total!! It was just a goof, so as soon as you check in, check your cards for your dining rotation & if it's not done correctly you can change it on board very easily - the place will be listed on your Navigator.

It was crazy!! We actually had it changed after a couple days (7 night cruise) because it was so over the top. But now when people say there are no 12-tops, I have to let them know what can happen. Oddly, on the only 2 cruises DH and I have taken on our own, we've been put at a 4-top all by ourselves - too funny!
