Dining with DVC

I want to confirm my thoughts on dining plan with use of DVC.

I can purchase dining options and it has to be for everyone in the unit, just like a package.

BUt if Free dining comes out I cannot switch over to free dining as DVC usage never gets free dining. CORRECT?

right. free dining is for cash reservations only (almost always at full rack rate), not DVC pts.

The only way you could switch over to free dining would be to rebook your room for cash at full rack rate instead of points. I think you also have to purchase tickets to get free dining.

Free dining is it a discount offer sometimes offered by Walt Disney Travel. You pay full price for a room, buy tickets and they add a dining package at no charge. WE (DVC members) don't get that staying with our points.

It's a deal that Disney offers at times when they don't have hotel rooms full. So the guest pays rack rate, must purchase at least two days tickets for everyone on the reservation and they get free dining for everyone on the reservation. There are limited number of rooms available at specific resorts. So even all the DVC villas are not always included.

Sometimes Disney only offers it for specific guests, like UK guests or as the bounceback offer. And some resorts only get the Quick Service dining plan, while others get the regular dining plan.
