It can be very difficult to book so if you see an opening, grab it. You can always cancel later. My DS has done it many times alone and once with DD. He loves it and has had a wide variation of imagineers. Remember not all imagineers are in design and on the ground being artsy. He had one that worked in finance.
I did Dining with an Imagineer in August on a Monday and loved it. The imagineer we had is involved with the Guardians of the Galaxy ride and he was awesome. We didn't find out until the end that he was filling in for a different imagineer who couldn't make it that day and this was the first time our imagineer was doing this in a few years. So glad we had him! He was extremely interesting and had such great stories to share. We didn't receive a plate but I had read previously it was no longer given out so I wasn't expecting it anyway. This was definitely one of my favorite experiences of my last Disney trip.
No plates, no name tags, higher price and shorter time last time we went.
We do enjoy the interaction with the Imagineers and the food is great.
We've been 7 times, but I think we are done.
I would do it if I had never done it before.
I went on a Monday in November 2018 at Hollywood Brown Derby. Same as a previous poster experienced, I wasn't expecting and did not receive a plate. Everyone did get a menu printed with their name on it, the imagineer's name and date of the lunch. The imagineer kindly signed all of our menus. She had worked on Pandora and had also been through the DCP. I would definitely recommend it if it is available.
Be careful if you book it through MDE. I did for our trip this past June and then found out there was a glitch with MDE and was booked into a regular HBD lunch instead. And - yes.... I am 100% sure I booked the correct thing. It said dining with an imagineer - not Hollywood Brown Derby. I was in tears! I was in touch with a CM for a few months who was trying to make it right for us - but she wasn't able to. Needless to say I was really sad and frustrated. It was the first thing I tried to book when our ADR window opened. So - if you are able to get it triple check if booking online.
We did Lunch with an Imagineer at Hollywood Brown Derby last September and we loved it. This was the 3rd time I've done the lunch and each time it is different. The meal and discussions have all lasted at least 2 hours, one was almost 3. I have not done it at Citricos.
