Dining with a large group?

We will be traveling with a group of 8 adults and 5 kids (3 of which will likely use high chairs).

I've read that Coral Reef splits up large parties to two or more tables. Anyone know if there are other restaurants that do that too? Any experiences you have dining with a larger party is appreciated. Thanks!

We were a party of 7, the only meal we were less than comfortable was SCI FI. Cars(tables) are made for 6, and the seats all face foward towards Movie Screen.

We just went to WDW with 12 (6 adults, 6 kids). Le Cellier will split up large groups. Norway split us up too, but the tables were next to each other. We were able to sit together at Ohana.

Hope this helps. :)

Interesting that you should ask. . .I just spent two days trying to book seatings for my group.

Originally, my group was 12 (9 adults, 1 child, 2 infants). No problem to be seated at Cinderella's Royal Table, Hollywood & Vine/Fantasmic, Marakesh, or Le Cellier.

The next day, someone else decided to join the trip. I was told that my group size of thirteen meant that I would have to book seatings through group reservations. Well, the result is that we're split up at Royal Table, Hollywood & Vine, and Le Cellier (at Le Cellier, we're split 4, 4, 3, and 2!). Marakesh will seat us together, but Marakesh won't seat "groups" (that is, more than 12 people) after lunch, so our dinner plans had to be changed.

So, it will be inconvient for a big group. Here's how I decided to make the best of it: we're a family group that doesn't spend a lot of time together, so I went ahead and decided to split the tables and assign seats in advance--people alternate who they sit with, so that they get to visit with different members of the family. At Royal Table, this means that I won't get to sit with my son, but his grandparents will really enjoy the chance to share the meal with the grandkids. And, at Le Cellier, my sister and brother-in-law will get a chance to spend time with their nephew and my husband and I catch up with my parents.

Good luck with your trip.

We had a group of 10 last time we went & I was told that there was a chance that we could be split to 2 tables but they try to keep the group by each other. It only happened once to us & that was at the CP & our tables were right next to each other. Sometimes they do it so you don't have to wait. the other places we ate were CM, WCC, & Princess Breakfast.

Thanks everybody!

crhenry: We have a similar situation. Right now there are only 3 families that are "for sure" going, which would equal 6 adults and 4 kids. I decided I'd better make the ADRs for 8 adults + the kids just in case our other friends come. I figure it's easier to call ahead and subtract people than to add people.

Based on the "group" reservation info I think I'll not mention the baby who will be 8 months old in Jan - she may or may not want to sit in a high chair anyway.

Thanks again :sunny:

:grouphug: We have 15 people the first two days of our trip (FL family joining us) then 8 for the rest of the trip.
Le Cellier has us at FOUR tables.
Crystal Palace we are at 3, Ohana 2, and Sci Fi we have 2 cars.
Everywhere else we are together.
I've dined with a large group in the past and not had any problems EXCEPT, some places won't seat you until everyone in your party is present.
have fun!

At some of our meals we are being joined by 2 other families. Total of 10, 5 kids, 5 adults. At some meals it will be 7, 3 adults and 4 kids. We were only able to secure single tables at Teppenyaki, Boma and Tony's. Most places have us at 2 tables, which is fine. We decided on the meals where we are split to have adults at one table, kids (teens) at the other. Yes they are well behaved and only 2 were born in a barn ;)

Good luck!

So will a family of eight be split up at Coral Reef? We have 5 adults and 4 kids I wonder if they will let the kids have their own table very close to ours that way everyone is happy..
