OK, so my girls are adult prices now.

Anyone know the least expensive buffet with characters?

Also can we go to regular restaurants and order one meal for two kids? My girls never eat much, but we want to try different restaurants. Any ideas are helpful. We plan on doing a lot of counter service but once in a while we like sit down, it just looks so expensive for my girls that don't eat very much. Thank you!!!

You can definitely split meals at non buffet TS. If you are not on a dining plan, you can still order children's meals also.

As far as inexpensive buffets, there is no such thing at WDW.

Thanks, I didn't know that about ordering off the kids menu. That makes everything so different!!!

They could also order just an appetizer and dessert if they are light eaters. I do that sometimes.

I second the thought that there are no cheap buffets! Cheapest is probably Trails End but there aren't any characters.

Do your character buffets for breakfast. Breakfast is always the cheapest meal of the day at Disney. Check the times and schedule close to the end of the breakfast service. Have a quick bite in the room when you get up, go to a park and tour for a few hours, then a late leisurely breakfast buffet that will pretty much serve as lunch too. It also sets you up to be looking for another meal in the mid-afternoon which is a less crowded time, and again may be just before the end of the designated 'lunch' period when food at the TS restaurants is again cheaper than at 'dinner'.

We ordered a few year back for my brother, who was 12 yo, off the kids menu but we had to pay the adult price at Akershus and Garden grill

Those are buffet fixed price meals so you pay by age. We have a 8 and 11 year old and we typically order an app, and 2 adult entrees at TS. As portion sizes are smaller we usually order 3 entrees at signatures.
