We will be visiting in March (P.O. Riverside).

Anyhow, we purchased the dining plan. I noticed when making reservations for a few restaurants that they require a deluxe dining credit (eg. Brown Derby, San Angel). Does anyone know if we can still go to one of them a use a regular dining credit and upgrade somehow?

Thank you in advance.

It depends what dining plan you picked. One plan just has "quick service" choices. Those are the restaurants that you are not served sitting down. "Table service" can be used at either type of restaurant-although I do not know why anyone would choose a $15 meal over a $40 meal! A great tip I have is use a quick service at Wolofgang Pucks restaurant in Downtown Disney. There are 2 sections to this restaurant, go to the side that you walk up and order. The food is amazing! One of our favorites is the macadamia encrusted chicken!
Let me know if you have other questions. My family has used the dining plan for oue last 5 or so trips!

First of all Welcome to the disboards! :welcome:

I am guessing from your post title "Dining vs Deluxe" that you have the "regular" dining plan (DDP) with 1 Table Service, 1 Quick Service and 1 Snack credit per person per night.

The Deluxe Dining Plan (DxDDP) includes 3 Meal Credits and 2 Snacks per night and a refillable mug per person. The 3 Meal Credits can be used for Table Service or Quick Service.

One TS credit on the DDP has equal value to one meal credit on the DxDDP. There is no such thing as a "deluxe" dining credit.

The San Angel Inn requires 1 Table Service Credit per person. The Brown Derby is a Signature Restaurant so it requires 2 TS Credits per person.

On the Reservation page there are quite a few errors that have not been corrected by Disney and among them is the one that says the San Angel is only on the deluxe plan - wrong and confusing.

You will find all of the same restaurants on the DDP and the DxDDP.

The pdf file for the 2011 Dining Plan is accurate:

There is also a Sticky at the top of this board with lots of information.

Just to clarify: there is no restaurant that accepts DxDP and not basic DDP. Disney has major problems with that website and really, really needs to fix it.

thanks for all the info. it had me confused when i reserved and it said san angel is deluxe, now i know that is not so and there is no such thing as a deluxe credit accepted - just one dining credit.

i have two boys (ages 12 and 9).
we are reserved for (first week in march):

crystal palace
chefs de france
coral reef
50's
hollywood and vine
tusker

we like buffets and we really loved tusker house last time.
i'm not too sure about hollywood and vine and chefs de france.

any comments or ideas?

thanks.

I'd suggest re-asking the last question on the main dining board. You'll likely get a lot more response.

We just got back from Disney on Saturday, and for us Hollywood and Vine was just so-so. We would not go back, but that's just us. And we had breakfast, not lunch or dinner. Coral Reef was pretty good, Crystal Palace was definately not our favorite, and we ate at Les Chefs last year and thought it was ok. Tutto was our favorite at Epcot!
