is this still going on for 2012?

also, and PLEASE excuse the STUPID question, is the surcharge only on the regular dining plan, NOT on deluxe? or is the surcharge applied across the board for oop, regular and deluxe?

thanks so much!

Please see the pricing and brochure sticky thread for all pricing on the 2012 dining plans, including prices and dates for peak periods. Please note that for 2012 there is a new peak pricing structure for the deluxe dining plan. Before this year, there was no separate peak price for the deluxe plan.

As for paying OOP, it's usually an extra $4 for adults and $2 for children at fixed price restaurants only (not a la carte restaurants) during the same dates that are listed for dining plan peak pricing.

so please clarify this for me. friends who are going with me read in the unofficial guide about the surcharge. i thought it was included in the package price. they swear it is not.

is the surcharge already added to the price of the package quoted on the disney website, like a peak season room rate charge? or is it added to the bill at the restaurant, as a separate item to be paid?

a little bit of knowledge is a dangerous, confusing thing!!!

If you buy the dining plan and use credits to pay for your meals you will NOT be paying any extra surcharge at the restaurant for table service meals in peak periods. The price of the dining plan itself increases in peak seasons.

Both the regular and deluxe dining plans now have peak season pricing. The prices and peak dates are in the sticky.

thank you so much!

the thought of paying for a package, then getting dinged another $14 at each place was too much!

There is one restaurant, Marrakesh, which has a surcharge over the dining plan for certain meals. But that has nothing to do with peak periods - it's the way they have decided to allow dining plan guests to order their special multi-course meals.

Just to add:

I think they DO add an automatic 18% tip to the bill when on the DDP, at TS restaurants. I wouldn't call that a surcharge...but I wonder if that's what your friends were talking about.

I know they add the tip for us..but I can't remember if it's because we were on the DDP...or just because of our party size.

Only for parties of six or more. Not for DDP users in general.

Thanks.

That's been us our last 2 trips...and I couldn't remember if they'd added the "mandatory tip" for DDP in general, or if it was just because we were over the party size limit.

I know they DO add the tip when you use the Tables In Wonderland card...

no, the unofficial guide says the surcharge is added to certain popular restaurants like akershus, biergarten ...etc. but people on the dining plan pay the surcharge for every restaurant on the plan. i was really confused about how they would collect the surcharge. if it is included in the quoted price, okay. but if i am paying for the package and then have to pay extra again at every restaurant, thet would make me postpone the trip a couple of weeks.

thanks mod for clearing that up!
