So, I need some help with suggestions for restuarants that are the best with an infant. We will be going in December and our baby will be 6 months old then. My Dad has already put in a request for his birthday dinner at Boma. I was thinking about Crystal Palace (never been), Ohana, and San Angel. Any suggestions would be great. :)

Since your infant won't remember any of it, I would just choose restaurants that you want to do.

I just returned with a 10 month old and he couldn't care less where we ate. He cried the whole time in Sci fi diner, and he didn't like the characters at the character meals. They were scary for him I guess.

Maybe you should just do 1 character meal just so you can get some pictures of him with the characters, but If it were me, I'd just pick restaurants the adults are interested in.

We are planning on doing a lot of the restuarants that we like. Just wondering if anyone had suggestions that their baby liked, atmosphere wise. We're planning on one character meal, but we'll see how that goes. Thanks for letting me know about Sci-Fi. I can see how it might be a little scary for a little one.

We took my oldest nephew to WDW when he was 6mos old. (He turns 3 this June.)

Anyhow, he really liked the characters at Crystal Palace. We went for dinner ... we returned when he was 14 mos and again he liked it.)

Whispering Canyon at the WL was great too - it had an inclined infant seat option in addition to the wooden high chairs. This was great - and the CM (an older lady) was fantastic ... she even brought an extra cloth napkin so we could line the baby seat so it wouldn't feel cold.

For some reason, he really enjoyed the movie clips at SciFi ... he spent the entire meal cooing and giggling at the screens.

Boma was good, we had a table with a banquet seat, so we were able to lay the baby down between two of us when he fell asleep. (This also worked at Restaurant Marrakesh).

Last time we went my youngest son was 11 months old. He really liked the Biergarten in Epcot as well as Chef Mickey's (then again we did Chef MIckey's at 7:30am so he was "fresh" and not worn out). He didn't seem to like Hollywood N Vine at DHS, but I think that had to do with the echos. Best of luck to you!

We love Crystal Palace with our kids. My DS went for the first time at 9 mos, and got the biggest kick out of tigger! Love the pictures and the memories!

I do second (or third) the recommendation to go where you'd like. The beauty of traveling with a kiddo that small is that they'll be happy with just about anything. Now that I have a 6 and 3 year old, I long for the days of a kid asleep in a carseat carrier while DH and I linger over dinner! :rotfl:

Crystal Palace was great for my son when he was 8 mo old! He had a ton of pooh and tigger stuffed animals so he liked hugging a big one!!! Plus the food is pretty good and the resturant is bright! But PP is right the great thing is you can bring them anywhere and they usually are fine! My little one slept through hoop dee doo! lol!

I've taken my kids at 6 mo, 6 weeks, and 3 mo for their first trips.

Boma was nice because after dinner while everyone finished, I ended up nursing in the AKL lobby and it was cool and comfortable!:goodvibes

Crystal Palace is fine, but it is very very loud in there. But, the baby center is around the corner to take care of anything you need with a little one which is nice because the CP bathroom is sooo busy and crowded.

Biergarten (like a PP said) has always been a favorite. The music is very fun.

We went to San Angel this past trip, and my DD slept through the entire event. Maybe because it is so dark in there!

We love 'Ohana and always had good luck with the babies there. Almost everything about the Poly is soothing... well, except for the coconut races!

Enjoy your trip!:goodvibes

Some people say that their children do very well with the face characters (princesses). When we went in 2008, my youngest was 14 months old and my older one was 3 and a half. They did much better with Mickey & Minnie than the face characters. We had done the dinner at 1900 Park Fare, which was very nice, with Cinderella, Prince Charming and the step-family. My kids were shy around these characters since they talked!

Back then, Liberty Tree had characters and my little one was completely enthralled with Minnie Mouse! He couldn't stop staring at her!! He was rubbing her nose when she came over to the table and he gave her a hug.

I know your little one will only be 6 months when you go and won't remember it, but that doesn't mean that a baby can't still have fun. By that age they are smiling and giggling already! The memories alone are worth it!

All that said, good places are Biergarten (there is music, and great food too!), Liberty Tree Tavern has a nice atmosphere and food is served family style, fast service too in case you have to get out fast, any of the regular resort restaurants are probably fine too (GF Cafe, Captain's Grille, Kona, etc.) and they usually get pretty good reviews on the food. Boma is a nice choice, buffets can be quick if you need them to, so you will enjoy that. AK Lodge is also a beautiful hotel!!

We just came back two weeks ago from taking DGS9 months (then, now 10 months). This was his second trip. He loved our breakfast at H & V!! The only thing he didn't like was June (from Little Einsteins). He was terrified of her but he LOVED Handy Manny!! He also loved the singing and dancing! We also did TRex for dinner one evening and he loved that too! We were in the ice room and worried about him getting scared in there, but he never did. We did others too, but those were his favorites. He loved all the characters except June but really didn't care too much for the face characters.

I agree with the PP that he may not remember it, but he sure had a blast while he was there! ;) I have lots of photos to show him when he gets bigger though.

Character ones are really good with young kids. Chef Mickeys is the best. :thumbsup2
