Just interested to hear if you prefer one dining rotation over another. Which dining rotation did you have and did you like it?

We had the rotation that is typical if you have older children. (My son was 9). It was Parrot Cay, Tritons, Animator's Palate. I expect we'll probably have this one on our trip on the Magic in December, since my son is 10.

I liked this rotation. So did my son. We got to wait for AP, and we didn't have to dress up our first night. Perfect for us.

I would prefer the "PPP" rotation. That is, Palo every night. They haven't given it to me yet, though.

For the 7-day, I like the PLA rotation, because for some reason I like Parrot Cay the best, and that gives us three nights there, plus tropical night on the eastern. We've usually gotten LAP, though, because until 2 months ago we had no kids. We'll probably get a different rotation next time.

Our group had PLA ~ Parrot Cay, Lumiere's, Animator's Palate.
It was a fun rotation as it put us in Lumiere's for formal nite and Parrot Cay for Tropical nite which seem to add to the spirit.

I'd prefer this rotation too!!

Does DCL allow you to request a certain rotation, or is that something that is simply decided upon by them?

We were told specifically that you cannot request a rotation (or at least that such requests are not looked at).

We requested and received our favorite server this past Eastern cruise and fortunately he was on our preferred rotation - getting Parrot Cay twice!

You ask for the dining room change at the time of embarkation and if there is room, then you can make the change.

PLA is the best rotation on the Eastern. Is there a rotation on the Western that is comparable. Lumiere's for formal night, Parrot Cay for Mexicali...?

I know things have changed recently. Does anyone recent Western cruisers have an opinion?

Thanks!

Anytime I only have to be at AP once is a great rotation -

Rae--
Do you dislike Animator's Palatte? The food/atmosphere?

Just curious -

Hi!

Low celings and no windows is my major problem with it. I feel claustrophobic! Also, the menu isn't as "good" as others, in my opinion but the veal chop is always excellent.

On our 3 night we had Triton's, Animator's Palette, Parrot Cay and I really liked it. We got all dressed up our first night - which we wanted to so we didn't have to worry about getting back early on Nassau. We had Parrot Cay our last night after spending the day at Castaway Cay - it really fit in to me.

I really liked all 3 restaurants immensely. We didn't have a bad meal!

We had the PLA rotation, which i like the best mostly because, like a lot of u have said, It puts u in Lumieres for formal, and Parot Cay for Tropical.

But what about the 7 night cruise? Which is the best rotation? We have 7 1/2 and 10 year old.
Thanks.
Laura
P.S.
Disney said the semi-formal night is night #2, tropical #4 and formal #6.
So do we want to be in Parrot for tropical, Lumeiere for semi-formal and Animator's for formal?? That would be PLAPLAP?:Pinkbounc

We asked for and received the APL rotation on the Western. This started us out with Animator's for the show the first night.

Had the first character breakfast of the cruise Sunday morning - a great way to get started.

Had dinner in Parrot Cay the night of Key West - fun.

Both formal and semi-formal were in Lumieres (though we went to Palo on semi-formal night).

Mexicali night was again in Parrot Cay.

This is the rotation for young children so be advised you will have lots of little ones around you. As 4 adults we would not have gotten this rotation unless we asked but we loved it.

I think Disney also goes out of their way to put the most outgoing servers on this rotation because the crew we had (Sylvester and Joel) were the best we ever had! Lots of fun!

Thanks WDWLVR!

When you say there were lots of little ones in that rotation, I presume you had the early dining.

We have late dining, as my DD is a bit older. My sister & BIL are coming with us & they have no kids. They are a little suspect of DCL vs. RCCL & Celebrity... They loves kids, but don't want to swarmed by them. I told them that the kids are probably less noticable than those other lines because of the programming & enforcement of adult areas. The little ones are most noticeable at early dining, later show & Mickey pool... They will probably sleep in the morning of the character breakfast, so that's not a problem.

Do you think there will be lots of little ones if we request APL late dining? I loved the PLA rotation on the Eastern, as the dining rooms matched the theming of those special nights.

Thanks so much for responding to my question!

I, for one love the intimacy of AP! I don't feel like I'm doing Ball Room dining in there. There are only 2 dining rooms in the world like them- Wonder & Magic. I love the stark contrast of the black & white & the transformation at each course. The artist brush columns- they are my favorite! Being an artist, I can really appreciate the planning & technology DCL used to make this dining room an experience. I'll never forget the look on my DD's face as the show progressed during our first DCL cruise- priceless!

You are correct - we had early seating. We've tried late seating and it just doesn't work for us.

We love Animator's as well - love the theming! I honestly feel the weakest of the three is Lumiere's. I think that it is because of the mural in the back - just kind of plain. In Triton's on the Wonder that area is filled with a mosiac - beautiful!

I do love it when the rotation fits the dining. We've been in Parrot Cay on formal night before and it just wasn't the same.

Just back from May 8th Wonder and we had TAP. Reading previous posts I was expecting something different for 5 and 10 year olds. I would have preferred Triton's later on our trip as we were rushed on that first night and our garment bag arrived last after 4 pm making us a little anxious. But since the food was great at each place it doesn't really matter!
