DW and I just returned from a four night stay (11/1 to 11/5) at SSR at WDW and would like to share our dining experiences with the DIS community.

Narcoossee's at the Grand Floridian (Monday 11/1)

Dinner for four adults (planned by friends). We had a PS (don't know what time), arrived at about 7:30 PM, and had to wait a few minutes to be seated. There is an upscale, but comfortable atmosphere at Narcoossee's with a waterfront charm. We were given a nice window table with a distant view of Cinderella's Castle. We were excited about our impending view of the Wishes fireworks show, but sadly, so many people stand on the walkway outside of the restaurant window during the fireworks that the view is mostly obscured if you stay seated at your table. The menu is quite varied but weighted towards seafood. I ordered the grilled wild salmon, while my three tablemates all had the filet mignon. All three agreed that the filet, topped with a wine sauce, was one of the best they had eaten. My salmon was good (not the best I've had), I really enjoyed the small crushed potatoes and chard it was served with. We each had a field greens side salad as well. The salad was fresh, tasty, and was topped with crumbled goat cheese. Yum! No room for dessert! We enjoyed the atmosphere and food, and did not feel rushed during our leisurely meal. We would recommend Narcoossee's as a more upscale pricey option for dinner. Entree prices ranged from the $30's to the $50's

Tony's Town Square in the Magic Kingdom (Tuesday 11/2)

Lunch for four adults (planned by friends). We had a 12:45 PS, arrived at about 12:30 and were seated immediatly in the glass roofed area in the front of the restaurant. Our waitress was very knowlegable and friendly (she has been waitressing for over 20 years at WDW). We enjoyed the Italian ambiance and the "Lady and the Tramp" themeing. I liked the dogs footprints (inside a drawn heart) in concrete in the sidewalk outside the exit of the restaurant. We shared an order of awfully good cheesey bread sticks. Then I had a rather large meatball sub and my wife had a panini (grilled sandwich). The panini was stuffed with cheeses, veggies and meats and was very tasty. My sub was not bad but the panini will be my next choice at Tony's. We shared an incredible pumpkin cheesecake (a seasonal choice). Once again a great, leisurely, non rushed meal. The lunch entrees ranged in price from $11 to $15. Tony's is on our must try again list.

Cap'n Jacks at Downtown Disney Marketplace (Wednesday 11/3)

Lunch for two. While shopping at the Downtown Disney Marketplace, we decided to stop for lunch at Cap'n Jack's. We choose Cap'n Jack's mainly because it was not as busy as The Rainforest or Earl of Sandwich. We walked in at about 1:00 PM and were seated immediatly. (Rainforest had a forty minute wait). The diner has a nice waterfront ambiance with nautical themeing, almost every seat has a good view of the lake or marina. My wife ordered the grilled chicken sandwich and I had the broiled grouper sandwich. The chicken sandwich was loaded with provalone, Yum! My grouper was served on a great focaccia bread. Both were good, I would order the grouper again. What a nice break Cap'n Jack's is from the hustle and bustle of shopping at Downtown Disney. It's quite relaxing to watch the boats glide across the water while having a quiet meal. Our bill came to just under $24.

Flying Fish on the Boardwalk (Thursday 11/4)

Dinner for two. We had a 7:15 PS. Checked in at about 6:40 while walking the Boardwalk and were given a pager so we could continue enjoying the activities on the Boardwalk. We were seated at about 7:05. Our waiter was freindly and attentive even though he was very busy with several tables. I really enjoyed the themeing and decor at Flying Fish. Murals on the walls and structures in the eatery represent early boardwalk rides and attractions. There are also winged wooden fish incorporated into the light fixtures, very cute. On the down side, the acoustics in the restaurant are not good. The noise level got quite high during our meal. (And at the next table there was a very loud individual telling a series of stories, each one louder and more bousterous than the last.) We skipped appetizers, in order to leave room for dessert. My wife ordered the cheese ravioli (apparently new on the menu), and found it to be tasty and not too rich. She was very pleased with her choice. I ordered the potato wrapped snapper (a Flying Fish signature dish). The fish was actually wrapped in a thin layer of potato and served on a bed of leeks with a wine sauce. I loved it! The leeks were very mild (not to oniony). For dessert my wife had the apple tart, and I opted for the Banana Napoleon. Both were excellent. The Napoleon dish was by far the best banana based dessert I've ever eaten. Dinner came to just under $80. We enjoyed dining at Flying Fish, and would suggest others give it a try.

Artist's Palette at Saratoga Springs Resort (Three times)

Artist's Palette is the "counter service" restaurant at SSR. It is a small restaurant with a limited menu. Menu options include several flatbreads, sandwiches and salads and a "special" of the day. They also have a few childrens options and desserts. The restaurant is located in the gift, grocery and sundries shops at the resort. The dining area is very upscale looking with leather looking upholstery, glass artwork light fixtures and large paintings on the walls. During our stay at SSR we had dinner twice and breakfast once at Artist's Palette. Both dinners we got to go, and ate them at the dining table in our villa. It was so relaxing to just pick up dinner and take it "home" to eat. We choose the specials: one night it was BBQ ribs and corn on the cob, the other night it was pork roast and mashed potatoes. Both meals were excellent, the ribs were tender and just fell off the bones, the pork roast was moist with outstanding flavor. The dinner special is an affordable $8.99. We tried several very good desserts, including chocolate cake, key lime pie, apple pie and a giant fresh baked oatmeal cookie. The breakfast platter has to be the best value on property. For $5.59 each, we had scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns and a biscuit. Wow! They also had lighter options including fresh fruit. Besides the conveniece and value, we never saw Artist's Palette busy. We dropped in for dinner one night at 6 PM and the other night at 7 PM, and we were the only customers puchasing meals.

Voyagers Wood Fired Pizza at Sea World (Wednesday 11/4)

Lunch for two. I was really intrigued by the themeing at this cafeteria style eatery in the Waterfront area of SeaWorld. The queue and cashier areas look like a ship building structure with the ribs of the ship suspended above the cashiers. There is also a giant set of (non-functioning) doors big enough to let the "ship" out of the building. The dining area was decorated with celestial decor (suns and stars), paintings of early nautical explorers, period maps and glass and steel globes. The wait in line took only a few minutes. My wife had cheese pizza and I had grilled salmon and steamed veggies. Both dishes came with a heaping order of fries. The hand tossed, wood fired pizza was excellent, way better than most pizza. The salmon and veggies were better than expected. We shared a huge slice of chocolate cherry cake, which was incredibly rich and very moist. We were both unable to finish our ample meals. Our lunch total was just under $29. We highly recommend Voyagers!

I'm glad you liked Tony's, the reviews have been mixed lately. I've only been there for breakfast, and have a PS for dinner for our next trip.

Thanks for shareing!

Thank you so much for taking the time to write your restaurant reviews. Your descriptions of the restaurants themselves as well as your menu choices were very enjoyable to read. Based on your experiences, I'm going to try some of them on my next trip. Thanks again.

I also want to try some of those restaurants, based on your reviews.

Thanks for sharing!

OK, this just made me hungry and I'm glad you had a good experience at Tony's.

I think it depends on what you order. We had pizza there and it came to us soggy indicating they put wet ingredients on the pizza too early in the process which displaces water into the crust as it's baked. Glad to hear they make good sandwiches.

Thank you! I was thrilled to see your review of Captian Jack's. We will be staying near DTD next trip, and I plan on trying a few of the restaurants. Captain Jack's was one of my choices. The veiw of the water looked nice.

Gald you enjoyed Narcoossee's. We loved it when we ate there!

Thanks for sharing your reviews with us!

You had my favorite entree and dessert at Flying Fish :).
