We arrived at WDW at about noon on 8/17. We were staying at the YC so decided to head right EPCOT and eat lunch at Chefs De France. My wife and I each had the lunch special - onion soup, ham and cheese sandwich and creme brulee. Our two DD's each had the child's hamburger.

The onion soup was pretty good - the cheese and bread topping were delicious - but the soup itself was rather salty. The ham and cheese snadwich was also good and the salad was also. Nothing great, just good. The creme brulee was fine - again nothing exceptional. I did like this meal and think it is a good value for $14.95.

The kids meals were also very good - especially the french fries. The kids also had ice cream for dessert.

Service was extremely slow, even though the restaurant was not very crowded. I would give the food a B and the service a D-. I probably would eat here again, but it would not be at the top of my list.

Dinner on 8/17 was at the Steak & Shake. Given our late lunch - and a very long odyssey to find a grocery store to stock up on our arrival day (post Charley, our usual Publix was closed and we ended up at Winn Dixie), we stopped for a quick burger. This was our only offsite meal and I would give it a B, with good, quick service.

8/18. Breakfast was in the room - we are not big breakfast eaters and like to get into the parks when they open.

Lunch - Yorkshire fish and chips. I really like the fish & chips here and everyone else enjoyed the quick lunch. Food is an A and service was very fast. However, they did not have the malt vinegar that I like.

Dinner - Le Cellier. We did not have a PS but were able to get in at 6:00 right away. The restaurant was very crowded. However, the food and service was truly exceptional - a real trip highlight. I had the cheddar cheese soup and the Le Cellier filet. My wfe had a Caesar's salad and the salmon. The kids each had the chicken fingers. I am a real steak snob and have avoided eating steak on our two recent visits to WDW. Boy was I wrong. The steak here was truly incredible - as good as any I have eaten (and I eat at a lot of high end steak houses) anywhere. The cheese soup was okay, the bread sticks were very good and my wife's salad was very good. Her salmon was done perfectly and she enjoyed it very much. The kid's chicken meals were very good as well. We did not have dessert (the kid's were getting antsy). Overall, this meal was an A+ and the service was an A.

Dessert - just before Illuminations, we stopped at the pastry shop in France. The food here was pretty good - again nothing great - but it did make up for the missed dessert from dinner.

More to follow as time allows, including Spoodles, California Grill, PSB, Boma, Chef Mickey's, Brown Derby, Hollywood & Vine, Crystal Palace, Earl of Sadnwich, Tangierince Cafe, San Angel Inn, Kona Cafe, etc...

Happy to respond to any questions!!

Thanks for the reviews.

I agree with you about the steak at Le Cellier. My steak was exceptional.

Can't wait for the rest of your reviews.

Good to hear about another great meal at Le Cellier. We're looking forward to trying it for the first time in 2 short weeks! :)

Enjoyed your reviews.

I had the "French Menu" at Chefs this summer. I too found the broth in the onion soup too salty. I've had it there in the past and not noticed that. In fact several things this summer were too salty for me. Do you think things are saltier in the summer to encourage more fluid intake?

Anyway, enjoyed your reviews and am looking forward to more!

Great reviews ~ Thanx for sharing.

We ate a Chef de France and were seated first for lunch. It took 2 hours. My 7 and 9 year olds were about to go bonkers. They are sooooooooooo slow. It is customary in France to eat a leisurely meal but not when you are at WDW!
