As a whole our dining experiences were very good. Below I will give a brief discription of what we ate and rank the dining experience on a scale of 1-5, 5 being the best. I will include the price of the meal, service , and food in the ranking.
12/13-Friday, Day of Arrival
We arrived at the BCV's at 2:00pm. Our room was not ready so we skipped down to Beaches and Cream for a Fudge Mud Slide ($8) It was fabulous as always myself and my 2 boys shared this.
Cape May Cafe-dinner
As most you know this is a buffet. We have included it on most of our previous trips. The food quality was good but I found the selection lacking from trips past. The salad bar is only a shadow of what it once was and the dessert bar just wasn't as impressive as it has been. I enjoyed the flank steak and smashed potatoes. The kids enjoyed the baked chicken, ribs, and corn on the cob. There has been a change in the kids section since our last visit, hot dogs have been replaced with fried clam strips!
Overall I would give this meal a 3.5 Total cost before tip $46.71
12/14
Beaches and Cream-lunch
We used 2 vouchers here. We ordered a single chesseburgerw/ fries, double cheeseburger w/ onion rings, and a hot dog. We ordered a banana split and fudge mud slide as our 2 desserts. After the vouchers our bill was $7. We really enjoy the burgers here. Delores the server was great! Score 4.5
Boma-dinner
We had friends staying at the AKL for the weekend and drove over to have dinner with them. It's amazing how busy this place is in off-season. The selection was large and interesting. I noticed here the dessert selection was much less than on previous occassions. I had told our friends of the fabulous dessert selections and then we saw them. We did enjoy the zebra domes but thats about it. At one time they had a coconut tiramesui(?) that was fabulous but it wasn' there. The adults really enjoyed the prime rib! Cost $46.71 before tip, score 3.5, our server was very annoying!!!!
12/15-Sunday
50"s Primetime Cafe-lunch
We had a party of 7. The adults had the meatloaf and the fried chicken. The fried chicken is wonderful and I highly reccomend it. My friend had the meatloaf and said it was good but I did notice them eyeing my chicken with a look of envy. Even the server "Richard, who I highly suggest you try to get" commented I had better watch them around my food. Thats when he reminded them he suggested the chicken, not the meatloaf. The kids ordered the typical and we had a dads super sundea for dessert. My bill for 1 adult and 2 kids was $36.74. Score 4.8!!
Note: Richard really got into his role and was just great. He really harrassed the kids which we throughly enjoyed. Granted he picked at us a little but not nearly as much as the kids!
Beaches and Cream-dinner
I had one more voucher I wanted to use so off we went to the BC. The kids split a double cheeseberger and fries(using the voucher) and I ordered a single w/ cheese. We ordered the kitchen sink for dessert using the voucher since our friends were with us. We didn't finish it!
Bill after voucher $9, score 4.0 I wasn't terribly impressed with our server on this visit.
12/16-Monday
Tusker House-lunch
This has long been a fast food favorite for us at Disney when I read on Deb's site that the chicken, ham, and swiss sandwich was gone I almost skipped it. But we tried it anyway for lack of other choices in AK. We ordered to fried chicken sandwiches, they were okay. Myself and 2 kids shared them and they were more than enough food for the three of us but they were mediocore at best. Cost was $14, Score 3.0. The only reason it's not getting the score it truly desires is the dining areas location. It is beautiful and we sat and watched a really great show while we ate. Also my friends had the rotiss. chicken and would easily give it a score of 4.5 ! So keep that it mind.
Rose and Crown-dinner
I requested patio seating and recieved it. However, it was COLD!!! I ordered the fish and chips, my youngest son ordered a hot dog and the oldest ordered the mac and cheese. Now let me start by telling you on the menu it said Mac and Cheese! When he recieved it , it was alot of english peas and a little mac and cheese. He about fell over!! My youngest son, upon recieving his hot dog asked for mustard, the sever brought it to him and warned it was very spicey and to only use a little. So we only put a little, my child cut loose gagging anf coughing. Once he recovered he said it was awful!! Understand this child can eat hot salsa all day, he said it wasn't terribly spicey, it was just nasty. His words not mine. My fish and chips were soggy which makes me very sad because I have always enjoyed eating here. At this point our evening just wasn't going well and I decided it was best not to wait for the show. I asked out server to find a supervisor. Soon after a nice young woman came to our table and introduced herself as the supervisor, I explained to her the mustard incident and suggested maybe they could stock up on some french's for the American kids. Mind you I was humorous and polite and she was too. As I am trying to tell her, the hot dog kid is adding his own commentary. Then I suggested they add onto the kids menu, on all of the items it clearly tells you what comes with the hot dog or prime rib but the mac and cheese just says mac and cheese, it never mentions peas!! So she offers us a comp dessert, I told her that was very kind of her but really all I wanted was for there to be frenchs mustard for my childs hot dog and for the kids menu to be more clear. So she tells me to wait a second and comes back with the money for the kids meals. Again I insisted that was not my intent but she insisted that since the kids obviously has not enjoyed their meal it was only fair. After such a fabulous response from the management it is hard to give the score I'm about to give but keep in mind every place has an off night and we have always enjoyed dining here. And after such a gracious response from management I will try it again. However, for this visit it gets a 3, solely for location and service. For food it would be fractional.
This has turned into a book so I will post the remainder of the week later today. I hoped you enjoyed reading them.
