First I will start by saying we did not do the dining plan. We can see where this might come in handy for some. I packed snacks and breakfast items to eat in our hotel room. Here goes....
10/22 - Arived in Orlando, quick dinner at Pop Century food court. We choose to purchase two refillable drink mugs along with our meal. Buyer beware the cups had no price on them - they rang up $14.95. Ouch - dont know if we got a bargain or got ripped off. I do have to say Dh and Dd enjoyed the unlimited Icee's and I hot cocoa in the morning. Anyway, Dh and I - double cheese burgers and dd had kids chicken finger meal. All were hot and well cooked. We were hungry and dont think we could have had a bad meal. Food worked! The meal ran $50 with mugs. Meal rating- B
10-23 - Day at MK. We planned to do alot of counter services to save money. I had posted on boards where to eat. Respones for MK were Pecos Bills or Columbia Harbor House. Do to the fact we were in Fantasyland at lunch time we went to Harbor House. The CM's were dressed in colonial costumes outside the resturant trying to lue in customers. This should have been my first clue. It wasn't a horrible meal just ok. Myself and Dh had the combo fish and chicken basket and shared the meal with DD. Plenty of food, again just ok. Enough to power us up to finish the park. Spent approx. $20
Dinner was back at the Pop food court - think we had pizza. Which was bland. Ok, dining day my next review will make up for that!
Meal rating - C
10-24 - Wilma decided to grace up with her presence. Parks were closed. We took our time in the room then headed to the lobby. As you can imagine the food court, gift shop and lobby were packed. I was glad we didn't have to rely on food court for breakfast. Pop had characters in the lobby to pass the time away which was a nice surprise. Around lunch time we grabbed a chicken nugget meal for $3.99 and headed back to the room. Hubby and I snacked on somethings knowing we had an ADR for 4:30. This our first experience with a charater meal. Had a CRT ressie but lost it when we had to replan our trip for an alternating week. So 1900 Park Fare was it! I have to say I can't compare another character meal but we were so pleased with this dinner. We arrived at 4:20 to a bit of a line but were seated promptly. There are two dinning area's the main and side hall area. We were placed close to the enterance of the restaurant. Seating is not an issue, although the hall area is further from the food stations. Ok, the food. (Forgive me if this is long - want to give a detailed description for those wanting to try this). The food is buffet style. Prices are 27.99 per each adult and 12.99 per child. Some buffets the food is luke warm - not here! Everything was hot and wonderful. Food stations as follows: Dinner Roll station, Salad & Soup station, Carving Station, Pasta Station, Desert Station and height adjusted Kids station. Salads - fresh green, ceaser, asian, and pasta salads. I had the asian as it was new to the menu - it was very good. Soup- 3 to choose. I had the chilled strawberry (recommended on boards) it was good tasted like yogurt. Carving station - prime rib, pork tenderloin, and turkey. All very good and hot! Pasta Station - 4 or 5 different types Penne pasta, pesto ravioli, shrimp & snap peas in spagetti noodles, alfredo pasta. I have to recommend pesto ravioli if you enjoy pesto sauce and mushrooms. I had two helping of this, it was great. There were also helpers such as red mashed potatoes, peel and eat shrimp, etc. There was such a great variety! The kids buffet was so cute - a lowered buffet with all the things "kids" enjoy. Chicken fingers, uncrustable PB&J sandwhiches, macaroni, plain pasta noodles. The only thing the didn't have was french fries - when I asked about this..The chefs said one moment please and went in the kitchen. He returned with a plate full of freshly cooked fries. Wow, I was impressed. As for deserts we were so stuffed we choose one item. dd - wanted nothing as the charaters were making rounds, dh - had soft serve ice cream (he was in heaven his favorite). Me - a mini cheesecake and cookie. Again what a great meal - I have to say I WOULD do this again and HIGHLY recommend it. Now for characters - It was Cinderella's Gala Feast. In the lobby to appear was the fairy godmother - she wasnt there but in her place was Princess Aurora! Then once everyone was seated the mice Suzy and Perla arrived. In a timely fashion came Prince Charming & Cinderella herself. Time frame at each table was great. My dd was in her Cinderella dress and crown. When Cinderella saw her she made such a big deal and even pointed to a glass slipper necklace my daughter had on. She had my dd pose with her and she whispered in her ear. It was priceless, I had tears in my eye. I am a huge Disney nut, so I got just as much out of this as my dd did. Great, Great, meal!!!! Meal rating - A (big surprise, huh?) Price: $90 with tip.
10-25 - Mgm Studio's and ressie for 50's Prime Time cafe. DH and I ate here on our honeymoon and loved it. So we took dd to experience it. Dd is shy so she didn't know what to think when "Uncle" Tom sat at our table. He joked with her and half way thru the meal she started to laugh. The meal was good. My only complaint was my meal (the chicken pot pie) was luke warm. I ate it, not wanting to complain but was a bit bummed. DH had fried chicken which he said was incrediable. DD had chicken fingers meal (do you see a pattern here?). The meal ran us $50.00 with drinks and tip. Meal rating - B (just due to my meal temp.)
10-26 - AK. Again, just had lunch as we were leaving WDW to head to family's house for the rest of the week. Was so looking forward to Flame tree for lunch and it's smelled sooo good when we walked by!! When we arrived to see what the kids menu was it was something strange like hot wings (no chicken fingers). So we headed to Dinoland and had lunch at Restaurantosaurus (Mickey D's basicly). Food was hot and they had a nice topping bar. Dh & I had burgers and guess what DD had? Have no idea what this lunch cost as I was looking for a place to sit. The park was packed!
My guess is approx. $20- $25 dollars. Meal rating - B
Hope my reviews helped some make some decisons. The boards have been so instrumental in my trip planning. It's great to have this handy tool. Happy eating everyone. Enjoy!
