We used the DDP and I estimate that 5 adults and 1 child saved aproximately $800 for a 7 night, 8 day stay. I can tell you that the numbers may be a little off because our plan failed to load properly on our room key, with the CS not showing. The AKL told us to charge back to our room, and they would fix it. We did try to keep it straight, but the desk simply removed ALL CS purchases. We had kept reciepts, and explained that we did not to take what was over our plan, but they said not to worry, it was their mistake.
Sunday: Lunch: Mara: Way too much food as we did not split any meal. Tandoori pizza was excellent, squash soup which served as a side to the pizza was excellent. Burgers and fries were good. Dh did not care for his rotisserie chichen, it was over couscous, and had stewed veggies over. Ithought it was good.
Chef Mickeys: we arrived about 20 minutes prior to our ADR, and were seated within 2 minutes. The food was excellent, service excellent, character interaction excellent. Our server explained what was not covered under our plan, and we paid OOP for the lighted drink for our DGD. I think that the characters did a very good job of assessing when the little one was ready to have them come near her, and they seemed took plenty of time to play with her.
Monday: Lunch Rosies in MGM. Food good, and plenty to split with my SIL, DD split with my DDIL. Desert were good.
Dinner: Mara: Now we know that here the women need to split.
Tuesday: Lunch CRT: WE had tried to add 2 extra here but had had no luck. My Niece and nephew went to the desk, and were added to our table with no problem I saw everyone else with no ADR turned away.
definitly coming our way so far!. WOW! Here Cindy is in the waiting area near a pretty Christmas tree. Out 4 year old is dressed in her Cindy dress and has had her hair done at the barbershop. Cindy is impressed, and spends plenty of time with her. We did not have much of a wait, maybe 10 minutes, and are shown to our table. The princesses come around, and spend planty of time with us, mainly focussing on the little one. Belle especially takes time to tease her after we tell her that she said she wanted to be her. The food is good, Focacia bread sandwich is good, pork tenderloin is moist and the mustard grits very nice, I'm told. Major Domo pie was delicious. My DH convinced the server to give him mashed potatoes instead of the grits for his starch. The appys were okay, and the dessert was okay. I'm not a fan of BB muffins,a and this is whet it seemed to be. Again this was a nice meal, and the interaction was not rushed at any time. we were also not rushed.
Dinner Ohana: We were able to secure a table for six that morning, but were told that they were then booked. Our ADR was for about 7 or 7:30. We were seated with 7 and the restaurant was not full. We liked the salad dressing some kind of a lime vinaigrette, and the sticky wings were excellent. The server was never inclined to offer more than the amount that he brought to the table, and seemed to be on his timetable, not ours. I had taken DGD to participate inthe childrens activities, and the flow just continued. I ate what was left. He then started to bring the meat, and we liked it. The pork was good, as was the steak. It was a little dry aroung the edges, but I imagine that was due to the cooking method. The turkey was dry to me, but some members of our party enjoyed it. My DGD was a fan of the sausage, and ate a whole one...a lot for her to eat at any time, and she had already enjoyed the inside of the pork. Potatoes to die for!!!!!!!!!! We also really loved the bread pudding with a caramel sause that served as dessert. My DS asked the waiter to bring another dish as he placed the first one down. This was the only time we got seconds of anything. The meal was good, but I think the server should have asked if we wanted more of the offerings. Big bonus: We were seated at the window, so we watched Wishes from our table. Nice meal, paid OOP, but will not rush back.
Wednesday: lunch Mara fish and chips to split today: very nice.
Dinner Concourse Steak House This was an expensive evening. WE did not wait long, and were hungry. My DS and his wife joined us, and we paid OOP for them. They nibbled on our appys, and there was plenty to share. I liked to food. Three of us got the Filet which was a good size, the mashed potatoes very good. Two got Chipotle rib eye, and I was told it was excellent. DD gor the Ribs with beans. She thought that the ribs were done to perfection. The rest of us got meat that was a step more rare than we ordered it. The server never asked us if the food was done okay, so we ate it, except for my SIL, he could not eat meat done less thatn rare. We had ordered med rare or medium. He was able toget the waiter attention, and his meal was corrected. The manager came to explain that the chef that evening cooked a little rare. The waiter never offered to show us the dessert tray, we needed to ask. Dessert was to die for, but I cannot remember everyting we ordered. Chocolate cake, and creme brule. Service was not worth what what he was tipped, and if I was not on DDP, I would have spoken to MGR. 18% was added to all OOP expense, but it was easier to just let it go.
Thursday: Breakfast AK at Tusker. Buffet was very nice.
DInner: Boma. One of my favorites of the week. The prime rib with the sauces was wonderful. Loved the mulligatawney soup. The Boboutie (sp) excellent. Service was also excellent. I think that this meal is a very good value. We had 4 extra people here, and the price of the meal alone was about $25 a person. The chefs took time to chat, and recommended salads that I had not tried. The food was well prepared, and not as though it was left on a buffet too long. Then there were the desserts. Save room for the desserts. Great food. Excellent service.
Friday: Cosmic Rays in MK. I'm starving, so I choose this meal to eat alone. Chicken Ribs, and mashed potatoes. Way too much, but way good. SIS in law gort a huge salad, and DD got ribs. SIL burger. This was the place to share a meal. Nice and hot on a chilly day.
Dinner: CP Here we waited 45 minutes for our ADR. The character interaction was slower that at CM, but still very nice. Not rushed. The characters took time to play with the little one, and Tigger pretended to take her stuffed Tigger into the parade. The food was good, and the service was again excellent. The buffet food was hot, and did not seem to be sitting. They were very busy here, and we saw many people turned away.
OT: while we were eating, the side door kept opening. It was cold, so we noticed. A party had skipped out on their bill. Our waiter went after them, and caught them.
Saturday: PSB WE paid OOP for this meal. I was not happy with the character interaction here, although in fairness to the princesses, they did not know my DGD. Mulan started as soon as we were seated, and the rest followed her. This would have been fine for ost kids, but our little one gets overwhelmed, and needs time to adjust. Not their fault, and they did not rush. All commented on her Jasmine costume. The food was very good. Cut fruit on the table, and a caramel bun thing. Both good. Scrambled Eggs and cheesy potatoes tasted good, and plenty of bacon and sausage. Bisquits light and hot served with some kind of sweetened butter. The server offered more of everything, and offered juice and coffee. I think this meal with the charaters was a good value also for a character meal.
Dinner CG; What can I say. We had an amazing meal. Flat bread appy, dungeness crab appy, and some sort of sushi sampler for my SIL. All was too good! Filets grouper, and pork tenderloin for entrees. The filet was the best I have ever had. Done perfectly for all of us. Scalloped potatoes yummy. My DD usually orders pork, and she could not stop eating this meal. Pink in the center. Perfect. The black grouper was amazing..moist and tender. Dessert again the best. I had eggnog creme brulee, and it was excellent. Tasted the Valhona molten chocolate cake, but was not able to scarf too much as my dining partners wanted to eat it all. The butterscotch dessert was very good. The apple tart was "just okay".
Some of us watched Wishes from our table, others from the balcony. Our server was helpful, both in choosing meals that we would enjoy, and helping us to choose a nice bottle of red wine. The bill was way over $400, with most covered on the plan. Maybe $75 OOP. Amazing meal, amazing service.
WE will use the DDp the next time we go. I noticed no difference in service with the plan as without. All in all the food was a good value considering we were in Disney.
