Dining Reservation Question--Is this the same at DL?

So, as planning continues on my DLR trip, we find that we MAY be joined by friends for our to park days. They're not committed yet. I, of course, want to make dining package reservations for Fantasmic! and World of Color. Can I make four reservations and then show up with just two with no penalty? I think you can do this at WDW, although I don't know for certain if it works the same way with the Fantasmic! package.

Any input?

I'd be happy to call in and change it as soon as I knew, but i think that would require canceling the ressie and adding a one one and I may not be able to get what I want at that point.

As long as it's not a prepaid package, you should be fine. Just let them know when you check in. There won't be any penalty unless you are a no show for the reservation.

with the dining package, do you get an actual seat for WoC?

They now charge a $10 penalty if you do not make your reservation, if you do not call 24 hours in advance to let them know. You have to put down a credit card when making the reservation.

No. There is a special section but no seats.
