Dining Reservation Addition Question

I made reservations for 2 people back a few months ago for BOG and California Grill. We now are going to have 1 maybe 2 more people meeting us those nights. I called Disney Dining and they could not modify my reservations. The guy did say that I could speak with the hostess stand at each restaurant to see about adding 1-2 more people when we go. Has anyone had this experience? Are the folks at the restaurant understanding about adding 1-2 people? I REALLY dont want to cancel the reservations that we have had for a few months but I would hate to leave anyone out in the cold. Thanks for the advice everyone!!!

One thing that you could do is try to make an additional reservation at about the same time for 1 or 2, and then when you get there, tell them that those 2 reservations are together. We have had luck that way--that is, if you can find a reservation slot open (even if is it RELATIVELY close, I think that you will be fine). However, I bet you might get lucky to add 1-2 to 2 at the hostess stand as there are probably more tables that seat 4 than seat 2.
