Emily, 12 year old daughter of best friend, only been one other time.

We arrived on Tuesday, October 4th. Our room was ready, so we dumped our carry ons and headed to an early dinner at Beaches & Cream since we hadn't eaten since 7am. We took a bus to MGM and then took the Friendship boat to the Yacht/Beach Club dock. We arrived at Beaches & Cream around 3:30 and were seated at the counter immediately. We split a single cheeseburger and fries. Emily ordered a coke and I had a big glass of water. We thought that if we split our dinner, we'd have more room for ice cream. So, Emily ordered a Mud Slide and I ordered a Brownie a la Mode. Neither of us could finish our sundaes. Our bill came to $30.10 with tip. We paid out of pocket, because I had our TS meals planned for later in our trip.

Wednesday, 10/5
We were able to get CRT for a 9:40am seating. So, after sleeping in a bit, we got a bus to the MK and arrived at the castle at 9:20. We were given a table immediately. We went up to the second floor and were seated by the window overlooking Fantasyland. We were greeted by Alice in Wonderland, Snow White, Belle, Wendy Darling and Cinderella. The stuffed French Toast is amazing. We stuffed ourselves and rolled back downstairs to start our day of park fun. Total bill: $53.87 or 2 TS coupons.

We took the monorail to the Contemporary and got a bus to MGM. We had a ADR at Prime Time Cafe at 5:10, so we watched the parade at 4:30 and then went to check in at the restaurant. Syndy was our "cousin" and "Uncle Charlie" also greeted us while we waited for our drinks. I had not been to this restaurant and found the atmosphere really fun.

Emily started with the shrimp cocktail. The shrimp were very small and not the freshest I've ever seen, but they didn't taste bad. She ordered the grilled chicken breast. I don't remember what sides she ordered. She also ordered a coke and had the Build a Sundae for dessert.

I started with the onion rings. They were a little soggy, not as crisp as I like them. I ordered the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and green beans. The potatoes were good, but the green beans were a little crispy, not done enough. I ordered the Smore's for dessert (and couldn't finish it). It was delicious. I've decided that I need to try that here at home. I had a diet coke. Total bill: $61.56 or 2 TS coupons.

Next up: 10/6 - 'Ohana

Thursday, October 6. We had tickets to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, so we took it easy during the day. We went shopping at DTD. We had an ADR for ‘Ohana at 5:05pm. We took a bus to the Magic Kingdom and then got on the monorail to the Polynesian. We were early, so we walked out to the beach and looked at the castle from there. We also admired the pool. We checked in at 5:00 and were seated immediately. Our server told us we could have any Coke product, but that the virgin strawberry daiquiri and virgin pina coladas were also included in the dining plan. Emily had the strawberry daiquiri and I had the Pina colada. It was delicious. I had never been to ‘Ohana, so I can’t compare it to the old menu. We were served the wonton chips and salad first. I enjoyed the chips (I love chips and salsa) and all three of the dips. Emily bravely tried the peanut sauce, but didn’t really like it. The salad was also good, but I didn’t want to fill up on it.

Next, our server brought out the wings and the shrimp. I thought the wings were good. I also enjoyed the shrimp, however, both were very messy. I think I would have enjoyed the shrimp more, had they not been coated with a sauce. It made them very messy to peel. Then our server brought out the hot washcloths. They were a welcome sight, since our fingers were very messy from the wings and shrimp. Our server brought out the stir-fried veggies and the potatoes next. I thought the potatoes were a little dry and bland, but the veggies were good. The first meat we got was the turkey and the steak. I found the steak a little tough and the turkey very dry. I didn’t try any of the dipping sauces on the turkey. Next, we got the pork and the sausage. The sausage was nothing special, really just large versions of breakfast sausage. I thought the pork was the best meat. It was moist and had a wonderful flavor. After we had stuffed ourselves, our server brought out the bread pudding. Emily wasn’t so sure she’d like it, but she did. The sauce you pour on is great. We ate the whole thing. I would go again to ‘Ohana. Total bill: $61.22 or 2 TS coupons.

Friday, 10/7 – LeCellier

After spending some time at the Animal Kingdom, we got a bus to Epcot. Our ADR was for 4pm. This was the only time available when I asked my DU travel agent to book it for me. This was the restaurant I was anticipating the most. It did NOT disappoint. After ordering our drinks, coke for Emily and diet coke for me, we tried the different breads. The pretzel bread is wonderful. We both ordered the cheese soup to start with. It was so good. Emily ordered the filet, but asked for the maple sauce on the side. She loved it. I ordered the mushroom filet with the mushroom risotto. It was the best filet I’ve ever had. I ate the whole thing. I couldn’t finish the risotto, however, it was also very good. Emily ordered the Canadian Club cake and I had the maple crème brulee. Both were very good. The only restrictions were that if we ordered a lobster tail to go with any entrée it was $12.95 and that we could not get the dessert sampler, unless we wanted to use both dessert coupons for it. I would go here again, however, I’ll have to save my pennies. Total bill: $101.24 ( I left an additional tip for Claude.) or 2 TS coupons.

Sunday, 10/9 – Donald’s Breakfastosaurus

Our ADR was for 8:40am at the Animal Kingdom. We checked out of POP, stored our luggage and got to the bus stop by 8am. We arrived at the AK and took our time walking to the restaurant, since we were about ½ hour early. We were seated in the “trailer” section of the restaurant. Our server came and explained about the buffet and when the characters were expected to appear. We headed for the buffet and loaded our plates with chocolate chip pancakes, apple crisp (almost apple pie), hash browns and eggs. I also got some fresh fruit. Emily had some cereal and ordered chocolate milk. I drank my orange juice and hers, too. This was the first time I’d been to this character meal/buffet. Although, the food here was good, I think I prefer the atmosphere at Chef Mickey’s. Total bill: $43.72 or 2 TS coupons.

Well, that’s it. We ate quite a bit and were able to spread out our counter service meals by splitting so that we didn’t have to buy very much out of pocket. I definitely think the dining plan is worth it, even if you have to pay for it, if you would like to do a sit down meal every day. I’ll have to really consider adding this to my next trip.

Total food dollars: $446.59 (snacks, counter service & TS)
Total out of pocket: $68.75 (refillable mug, several alcoholic beverages, Beaches & Cream and several cokes)

Thanks Mickee fan!

I am so looking forward to trying LeCellier. Sounds like your meals were wonderful.
