Dining Recommendations for a Foodie Wo Loves Everything

I assume the menu changes nightly, but what did you have when you were there? Just curious and if you have pictures, I would love you!

At the Chef's Counter, you have two options - you could select a pre-determined tasting on the menu they present you, or you could do the tasting menu where they cook items specifically for you. I've only done the "cook for me" option. You tell the chef what you do and do not like and he makes up a menu just for you on the fly. In the times I've done it, I've never had the same dish twice - nor have my dining companions had the same. It's an incredible experience.

Yes....normally the nachos come with steak or chicken. But they have a carnitas cheesburger there and will gladly top the nachos with carnitas instead!
Ralph Brennans Jazz Kitchen is in Downtown Disney. It is a bit pricy but the food is great here. Also, we dined on a night they had live music which was great as well. Another great spot in DTD is Naples for pizza.

That sounds delicious...I have heard of Ralph Brennan's, I think the RB threw me off! Thanks for the nacho wisdom

As a lover of all things cooking, that sounds like so much fun. I would definitely do the "cook for me". I'll eat anything except Salmon and capers LOL.

Yeah, I don't eat cooked fish or offal, but I LOVE all shellfish - especially raw oysters - and things like tartare and escargot. I didn't even mention how much I loved duck, but the last time it seemed like the chef just KNEW I had a soft spot for duck.

Seriously. Best experience ever. I'm actually skimping on hotel for Disneyland Half weekend because I'd rather spend the money on at least one seating at the Chef's Table, if not more!

Is this that burger for $24? That is pricy, but I can imagine it being incredible. Usually burgers for that price are delicious, even though the thought of paying that much is outrageous. And DtD does count! Im open to anywhere on property and even off. I live for a cheese plate so the NR one is a must now.

Carthay 8-oz Angus Burger
Cheddar Cheese, Pepper Bacon, Grilled Onions, French Fries

The CCR burger is definitely expensive, but if you will be doing a WOC Dining Package (Lunch), you could enjoy the burger and get great viewing for WOC to boot. We usually share the burger with a salad or an order of the biscuits -- plenty filling for 2. If you have the cheese plate at NR (we usually have it in the lounge), talk to the cheese sommelier if he's available. He's super knowledgeable and fun.

I never thought there would be a more beautiful word than cheese sommelier. LOL But great tip on the WoC dining package. Is that worth it?

Great idea, I think I would do that too. That meal(s) sounds like one you'll just never forget.

We've found the package to be a very nice way to enjoy WOC. Since we would eat at CCR anyway, the package wasn't an extravagance or a burden on the budget. The WOC menus are pretty generous -- basically the same as the regular a la carte menus. The biscuits can be ordered as a separate item at the regular price. The CCR viewing section has a great overall view -- higher up and farther back. If you want to be in the splash zone, just ask a CM to let you through.

The hot link corn dog at corn dog castle. Life changing. ;)
The cioppino at Ariel's Grotto was better than theme park food has any right to be.
RB Jazz Kitchen is excellent but the real selling point is the bananas foster because OMG the will set your dessert ON FIRE! :)
Steakhouse 55 (dinner) was truly excellent.

My husband and kids are not interested in Napa Rose or Carthay Circle which is sad for me. :( We end up at the Storyteller's buffet where pre diabetes I consoled myself with the pain au chocolat bread pudding.

I've never heard about the copping at Ariel's Grotto before--thanks for the information.

i found it at the tower of terror gift shop. trolly treats in dca and candy palace on mainstreet have a large selection of specialty flavors (cheddar, maple bacon, garlic parmesan, sriracha something...), but i couldn't find the churro flavor there, i assume they were out. i would imagine pooh corner might have it also, but i would just check out all the shops, because you never know. i wouldn't have thought to check the tower of terror shop, i just happened to find it when we were getting off the ride.
when i go back in a couple weeks, i'm cleaning them out, so if you're there around the 31st and can't find any churro popcorn it's because i bought it all :D
LOL! Thank you for your expert and well seasoned;) advice!

Is Steakhouse 55 good/worth it?
Worth it will depend on the person.

My wife and I went there for an anniversary dinner, and it was pricey (but I think not as pricey as Napa Rose). However, the space was LOVELY (that included some Disney magic ambiance in a more refined way) and the food was VERY SPECIAL. What took it over the top for us was our waiter. He was older (knocking on 60 and I would wager from an Eastern bloc country), and he was awesome, and really added a personal expertise that made the meal magic. We started with the wedge salad, which was a proper, old school wedge salad and the kitchen split it between two plates so that we could share. Our steaks were cooked perfectly and the truffle mac n cheese was as good as it sounds! Our only regret was eating so much with the starter, steaks and sides that we did not get to enjoy any of the desserts available. Next time, we share a steak so that we can share a dessert.

Sounds like an absolutely perfect meal, thank you for the advice!
