Dining Recommendations for 1st time trip to Disneyland with kids

DLR has lots of good CS places, both in the parks and in DTD. Try looking at allears.net for the menus of all the CS places to see what would suit your family's needs best.

Depends what they like. My daughter is 11, she likes what we like. She's shunned kids meals for a while now, despite being tiny and not eating a lot. I just share with her most of the time.

We have two boys but we still love Ariel's the most for table service. Counter service would have to say the Plaza Inn is the best!

For quick service on your first visit to DL, I would suggest Jolly Holiday and to grab tables near the street (close to Coke Corner) so you can people - watch and soak in the atmosphere.

Our favorite place at Disneyland is Rancho Del Zocalo, which serves large portions of Mexican food. At DCA we enjoy the Pacific Wharf Cafe, which serves soup and salad in bread bowls and also sandwiches.

Your kids may enjoy eating in Carsland. The cozy cones have snacks that could easily be lunch including chilli in cones and Flos is fun, though we have trouble finding much to eat there. Smokejumpers at DCA is a burger place with a fun theme, decent food, and a topping bar.

Pizza is overpriced and not very good at the parks, though there are plenty of pizza places nearby. McDonald's is across the street if you need something quick, cheap, and familiar.

Enjoy your trip.

Plaza Inn, can order an extra biscuit and share a chicken plate, Rancho Del Zocalo by Thunder Mountain, Corn dogs from the red cart, Carnation Cafe
CA Adventure, we have done the corn dogs there also and the hamburger place by Soarin. I do like Boudin's with the sour dough soup but I think when my grandson and I go, we are going to share a sandwich and soup and ask for the bread in a bag.

My kids' favorite restaurant in DL or DCA is Blue Bayou. In DCA they like Ariel's. One of them really likes Cozy Cone for the mac and cheese with bacon and the other likes Flo's ... mainly for the atmosphere. Other than that, they don't really care, other than DD13 who always has to get a turkey leg and DD17 always has to get a churro. And although they're older than your kids, this has been the case since they were 4. Oh, they also really like Hungry Bear, but that's mainly because of being able to sit by Rivers of America and I'm not sure that's still going to be a thing once ROA opens back up due to the Star Wars land walkway.

They do enjoy either Carnation Cafe or Plaza Inn for the fried chicken ... I can't remember which because I always get those two mixed up. It's the one without the character meal.

Carnation cafe is a table service restaurant. They could serve chicken though. Plaza Inn has Minnie's breakfast in the morning and also serves large servings of fried chicken in the afternoon.

I suggest that you look at the menus and see what the kids will eat. Your tastes and budget will determine a lot.

Yes, Carnation Cafe is the one I was thinking about. And they do serve chicken. Thanks!

My 10 and 12 year olds like:
Plaza Inn (counter service) one likes fried chicken, the other the pasta bolognese.
Both like the mac and cheese hot dogs with bacon at the Coca Cola Refreshment Corner (I think that's what it's called), it's counter service.
Both like Jolly Holiday sandwiches but those are kinda tricky with braces, that's counter service.
Main Street corn dogs - at the red wagon.
French Market is counter service - one likes the French dip and the other the jambalaya/gumbo.
Fish and chips at Golden Horseshoe and the chili cheese fries - this is walk up counter service.

Don't waste your money on DL pizza or hamburgers.
