Has anyone gone on a 4 day cruise and not dined in the main dining room? Just done room service or cabanas? No Remy or Palo? I'm thinking of winging it because I want to keep our four days very flexible. Thanks

I'm sure there are those who have. One note - cabanas isn't open for dinner the first and last nights of a cruise.

Thanks again Shmoo. Do you know if there are other options first and last day on the dream?
Well, there's the poolside quick serve locations. And room service. And 687 (sports bar) has a Pub Grub menu (extra cost), but I don't know if it's served on the first and last nights for sure.

OK, thanks. I will keep an open mind and look at the navigators and decide on a day to day basis. 4 days just seems to go so fast and honestly main dining food isn't worth wasting all the time.

You can ask your serving team to speed up service, so it doesn't take so long. Or skip appetizers/salads and only order an entree (or just dessert) to get out faster.

Just had a thought, Cabanas, while open for dinner (on those nights it is) isn't a buffet - it's a sit-down table service with selected items from the menus being served in the MDRs that evening. Service might be a bit quicker there, but not a lot.

As previously stated you can talk with your dining team about quick service, my family and I are fast eaters and we order everything at the same time and tell them to just bring it all as it comes out. DH and I also share the apps and desserts. We have been able to eat a get out of the dining rooms in as little as 45 minutes. Room service sometimes can take as long as 45 minutes to arrive also, but the food is good.

I have done a couple short cruises without ever dining in the MDRs. We did some room service and some quick service. The food choices aren't as elaborate, but I've had 2 hour dinners in the MDRs before and that isn't how I want to spend my time. Since reading the forum, I've decided to ask for my own table and to try to speed up my dinner service next time. We get full and don't want dessert, so hopefully that will help, too.

For room service, there were things I asked for that were not on the menu and they said yes they could bring it to me. I know a bowl of fruit was one thing I ordered at dinner once, but I can't remember what else. They came extremely fast both times, but we were on the Wonder.

I have friends that have done exactly this, twice, on their 4 night cruises. They dine in Palo, then Cabanas (as mentioned not open on the first/last nights) room service, burgers outside, etc. They said they've enjoyed it and seem to get a kick out of it. They are seasoned cruisers (well over 15 sailings) so for them I think it's something "new" and "exciting".

One day we might try this but for now I really enjoy being with the serving teams and several we know and have been friendly with and I think our family would miss out on that aspect.

Our 4th cruise will be 2016. We will be trying some "out of the box" things--one being skipping some of the MDRs. :)

In Sept, we were on a 7 night. I think we ate in the MDR maybe three nights.
I really wish Cabana's was buffet for dinner.

I'm going on a 3 night on the Dream. One night Palo, one night Remy. 3rd night will be elsewhere - not the main dining room. maybe the pub.

Just off the Dream and we skipped Main Dining twice. :)

We love Cabanas table service, and had that once and the other night we picked up wraps at the grill. We've done Main Dining quite a bit so we're not missing anything. We also give our wait staff a heads-up well in advance as a courtesy so there are no surprises.
