Dining Question: Got Milk?

Hi All,

Thanks for all the advice I've read so far. :thumbsup2

Now I have a question: there are six of us in our group, traveling for a week in late June, three adults and three kids. All the kids are on high fat diets (otherwise very healthy, so don't worry!) and have to drink whole milk. Actually, the youngest drinks cream to maintain his weight. They're all pretty good eaters, just a high metabolism. We are staying at DLH and planning to do at least one TS meal per day, then some CS. We have a car and are staying in a suite with Fridge, so we'll do a grocery run.

Anyway, here're my questions: do they have whole milk in the restaurants? When it's just one meal away I don't mind, but all week could be a problem. If they don't have whole milk, do you think they'd mind if we brought in our own beverages? I'd even get a doctor's note if that were necessary, although I've read that Disney rarely challenges on medical issues.

Thanks for your help. We're really looking forward to our first DL trip and this would set my mind at ease.

You will find whole milk at most places in the park. Its hard to say at the TS, since it will come in a cup/ glass. At the CS you will usually have a choice of milk. Some will have little bottles, others will have small cartons. Over all you should be fine.

And, yes, you can bring in your own. They wont have a problem with it at the gate. The biggest problem you will have is keeping it cold. You can bring in a small soft side cooler, but not a big picnic cooler. Personally, I would probably go into the park the first day without. Look at whats available, and if it isnt satisfactory, bring it with the next day (or when you go back to rest for the afternoon).

I can't speak for DLR, but at WDW, all the fast-food outlets had whole milk or low-fat (1%) milk in cartons to choose from.

If you are staying at the DLH you could buy whole milk to keep in the fridge in your room. My youngest son is a big milk drinker and we always keep a gallon of milk for him. We also bring cereal and other things for them to snack on while in the room.

We had no problem getting milk in a number of places we ate. My kids run on moo and juice, they really do not care for pop.

Thanks everyone. We planned to get milk for the room, since we won't eat out for every meal, I just didn't know how much to buy. I don't want to waste time on a second grocery run.

I like the suggestion of going the first day and checking it out. The boys are 3 (will be in June), 6 and 8, so we don't push too hard. When we're back we can fill up. We'll definitely have a little soft-sided cooler (bottle bag actually), with plenty of ice packs. That should work for a meals' worth.

Thanks Again,
