Dining Plans

No. Some people may like the idea of prepaying their meals, but if you want to do this you are better off just buying Disney gift cards and applying them towards your meals. The meal plan is basically just vouchers with $ amounts attached, but you would not get any change if you didn't use the full value. It certainly would not save you any money.

It is not nearly as evolved as the WDW dining plan.

We researched this pretty thoroughly (not much info on DL's site) talked to a lot of "regular" disney loving people as well as the dining reservations office and wdtc (they claim an average savings of about 10 percent) the amounts were weird some meals you have to pay "the difference" for example character breakfasts, and some of the nicer sit downs. Using the menus here on the board as a guide to prices we decided that we could do so much better on our own. We are actually doing 2 character breakfasts and 2 sit down dinners with the rest of our meals being counter service we came out saving 25% over what the dining plan would have cost.
Hope that helps

Thanks for researching this. I just looked at the dining plans and they seemed rather weak compared to the detailed dining plans at Disneyworld. Thanks for affirming what I was thinking.:wizard:
