Dining Plans are Back!

Glad to hear they are coming back…. Will this too be geared towards Certain Perks for Certain Guests… kind of like we re hearing that Xtra Hours will be for Deluxe Guests Only?
not sounding very INclusive to me, Disney?
what? Values and mods are not worthy of Xtra Hours? Talk about being disappointing.. and honestly Saddened by it… if it pans out to be accurate as is being reported.
Hmmmmm.

The nighttime extra hours was announced by Disney in their official blog. I think we can take that as being accurate.
https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/b...l-during-walt-disney-worlds-50th-anniversary/The post also mentions that the DDP will be definitely be returning at some point, which is no surprise given how it's a huge moneymaker.

And I'm also hoping for the return of TiW. We always got our money's worth from it.

Yay! Hoping for the return of TIW also!

So what is TIW BTW?
TiW = Tables in Wonderland

It's a discount program for most Disney restaurants. IIRC, it costs DVC members $125 (maybe $150?) for a 1-year membership and you got a 20% discount on dining - including alcohol. But it also came with an automatic 18% gratuity added to your check.

The automatic gratuity never bothered me because we tend to dine in large groups that automatically get it added anyway. It's the discount on alcohol which set it apart from discounts like the Disney Visa, AP or regular DVC discounts and it was valid at the lounges as well.

Thanks, have to look into that if it returns.

Not a fan of the dining plans
We did it once. Ate way too much. Felt like I was cracking the whip half the time herding the kids into restaurants: "I know you're not hungry but you need to do your part to get our money's worth! So get in there and eat before we really give you something to cry about! Oh...and have a magical day"
Ended up toting two full grocery bags of French pastries from EPCOT to use the leftover benefits at the end of the trip. :p

Still not sure if I'm sold on the dining plan. We've done a couple of iterations and I'm not seeing it come out for us (we don't drink so that's a major part of it).

I'll take my Visa/DVC table service discount instead.
While it is possible (albeit difficult) to come out ahead on the DP, it is more for those who want to prepay for everything and not have a care in the world.

Zero chance it will come back before all the restaurants are back open… It’s insane right now trying to book a dining reservation due to there being such limited options, I cant even imagine what a disaster it’ll be if they roll this out before full operation. Not to mention, with the current menu’s so many of the places have drastically reduced menu’s… I’m definitely glad to see them say it’s coming back, but it could be 2022 before it’s back as well…

I hit post and realized that the way I phrased that came off wrong… I just think that it’s highly unlikely to be back anytime soon, due to a number of current issues… staffing being the ultimate one… especially so in Epcot
