We have an upcoming trip to Disney World December 11th thru 17th.
Can someone explain the Dining Plan to me? Do you have to have a package (I'm doing room only for December) for the Dining Plan?

I've read many of the posts but can't figure it out. Also what is the cost per person for the Dining Plan with room only?

Thanks.

I think you have to book it as a package including your tickets atleast that is what we did. THe cost is $35 for an adult per day and $10 for a child 3-9.

You do need to be on a Package. Some have posted that they purchased One Day tickets in order to meet the package requirements. If you have an AP, you do not need to use the one day ticket now, and since it is not activated it will be good for a future visit. All people in the room need to be on the same plan, so everyone would need at least a one day ticket.
The cost of the plan is $10/day for children ages 3 through 9 and $35/day for adults. This includes 1 snack, 1 Counter Service meal and 1 Table Service meal per person, per day. So if you were a party of 4 staying for 5 nights you would have a total of 20 Snacks, 20 Counter Service meals and 20 TableService meals (4 people X 5 Nights) You can use these in anyway you choose. Perhaps one day you have a Table Service Character B'fst, and a Table Service dinner in Epcot. You would use a total of 8 Table Service credits and 0 Counter Service for that day. Perhaps the next day you have breakfast at a food court and lunch at Peco Bill's in the MK. This day you used 8 Counter Service meals and 0 Table Service meals. You can mix and match the credits however you choose.
I hope this helps

If I book the room only plus buy Magic Your Way Tickets is that considered a package and then add on the Dining Plan?

I'm so confused on this Dining Plan so any help is welcomed.

Thanks again.

We just booked our MYW Package. From my understanding talking to the CM, you MUST book your room, tickets and dining as a package ( which means you pay rack rate for the room ) that is the ONLY way to get the dining plan. You CANNOT get the plan if you book everything seperate, and you CANNOT use ANY kind of discount, codes, AP, AAA or anything else.

Yes, I too have seen post of where people book the package, and only get one day tickets, to minimize cost, but most of them that I've read have been AP holders, who then save the ticket they HAD to purchase to meet the requirements of the package, to use them at a later date.

I have seen a couple of post where people have said they got a AAA discount on the package, however, they've then posted the amount they paid, and it comes out to the same amount disney is quoting for the package - meaning they didn't really get a discount.

IF you want the dining plan, you MUST purchase the " package ", that is what the CM told me.

You do have to have the Package, I had to get a refund from my room only ressie, and a refund from the MYW tickets I prepurchased, and rebook as a Package to get the dining...

here's a helpful site, from the Unofficial Guide about the dining that helped convince me! http://www.touringplans.com/MYWDining.html
