I have a unique question...we are staying at Disney via a timeshare (on property). Does anyone know if you can add a dining package without booking through WDW?

Yes you can. If you are renting a reservation from a DVC member, they will have to call Member Services to do that. You do not have to purchase tickets to add the dining plan like you would on a cash reservation.

If you are trading in through RCI with your own points, there is some kind of information on your RCI reservation or paperwork regarding calling DVC Member Services regarding your reservation and then you can call yourself.

They're just clueless about "special" stuff on the reservations line sometimes, or even the Dining line. Check your RCI paperwork or the website there (I don't own RCI, just DVC), but I know it can be done through DVC Member Services.

At this point in time, you add it at least 2 or 3 days in advance and pay for it at check-in, but that is supposed to change in the fall I think to a pre-payment thing.

Yes you need to contact DVC Member Services. RCI should have contact info for you.

The regular WDW reservation systems for dining and rooms can tell you nothing about DVC reservations, it's an entirely different system.

Because the terminology is different you should probably know you do not book a "package" through DVC. What you wish to do is add a Disney Dining Plan to a DVC/RCI trade reservation. "Package" is specific terminology referring to non-timeshare reservations at Disney.
