Dining Plan with DVC Question

With the new way they are doing the Dining Plan for DVC can you add the plan for just one night? I'm going down for a week starting on May 15th, and my first night I'll be eating at Jiko and the next day at Yak and Yeti for lunch. After that my dining plans become far more sporadic. I'm thinking about adding the Deluxe Dining Plan for just the first night if that's possible. This would cover those two meals and give me a couple of snacks in the bargain.

You would need to have the reservation segmented so that the first night was separate from the rest. Both segments would fall under the same travel plan number so you would not have to change rooms. Your credits from that first night would expire at midnight on the day you are planning on Yak & Yeti, so those snack credits would have to be used up by midnight.

I didn't know that options on the dining plan have opened up. I'm excited to be able to use this new option, as sometimes purchasing the dining plan for each night of your stay isn't as beneficial as it is meant to be. I only wish that they could make tge dining plan available for DVC members when staying occasionally offgrounds...

As erionm has said you can do this. I plan on doing Deluxe DP our first night for CRT and then the remainder of the stay the standard DP.

We did this earlier this month. We got the Deluxe Dining Plan every other day. It worked out well for us.

This sounds really interesting. We are staying at AKL Jambo in June for 8 nights and are renting the points from a member we know. We were looking at adding the regular dining plan, but looking at our needs, we think we would be better served doing 4 nights of deluxe, every other day, instead of the 8 regular dining days.

Our reservations for the two rooms for the 8 nights are already been made. A couple of questions for those that have worked it before:

1. How does DVC segment the reservation? Do we have to start over with a series of 2-night stays?

2. How do they keep track of each set of DDP meals? Do you re-check in and get new Keys to the Kingdom cards?

3. How does is affect housekeeping (re-checking in, split segments, etc)

Is it a hassle for member services, the person making them and then once you are there?
